After an ankle sprain, the right level of immobilization matters.
In the early phase, we often need to fully protect the ankle ligaments to allow proper healing. Traditionally, that means a bulky walking boot.
But as recovery progresses, controlled motion becomes important.
That’s what we like about the TayCo brace 👇
✔️ Easy to put on
✔️ Lighter and less bulky than a traditional boot
✔️ Can be worn over your shoe
✔️ Hinges can be adjusted to gradually allow plantarflexion/dorsiflexion
✔️ Still blocks inversion/eversion to protect healing ligaments
✔️ Better comfort = better compliance = happier patients
The ability to transition from immobilization to controlled mobility can make a big difference in recovery after an ankle sprain.

TRUST
Learning to trust in God’s timing hasn’t been easy, especially during challenging moments. This is my third injury in a row, 😅and I’m still navigating knee issues on the same side as my sprained ankle. It’s forced me to slow down and appreciate the little blessings like being able to walk, rest without pain, and truly heal. Thankful it’s only a sprain and holding onto gratitude for the small things. Sending you all love 🤍
Couch Chella for me this year but I’m there in spirit dancing and shuffling at Coachella💃🏻🥹🫶🏻
Things like manual therapy, acupuncture, and meditation have helped me on this journey. If you’re looking for a good South Florida acupuncturist visit @treehouseacupuncturemiami & see my girl @cidtreat 🧘🏻♀️

The best is to just laugh at yourself and keep on moving 😅 My 3 injuries this year happened like these within 10 days in June🙈 Sprain, sprain, strain.
Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles. It takes away today’s peace.

If your crew doesn’t drag you when hurt, do they even love you?😂

What I’d test after the ankle “feels good!”…& why👇
My brother rolled his ankle (mild sprain) and wanted to know when he could run. I hadn't seen him yet, but he "swore it felt better."
So naturally, as his PT older sister, I put him through a few things at week 2 — this is the actual video I sent him, with some loving sisterly advice in a text after: "send me a video of you doing these and...you better not get reckless and run hella miles on it smh" 😆
📌 Ofc there's more I'd test in a full assessment. A big piece is asking about discomfort or pain:
* Where does he feel symptoms?
* When? During movement, after, the next day?
But this is a very general list of functional movements I want to see before talking about introducing impact or a progressive return to running.
👀 These give me a snapshot of foot/ankle control in static and dynamic conditions, range of motion (dorsiflexion is often limited after ankle sprains), and how his joint/calf are tolerating load. From HERE we talk return to impact.
📌 What I'm looking at:
* Single leg balance with intrinsic foot control
* Single leg squat with adequate ankle dorsiflexion
* Toe walks without the heel dropping (control at top of range)
* Single leg calf raises with good control — some movement variation is normal, we mainly want it loaded and tolerated
* All of it shoe on vs. shoe off
📌 What I sent him with the video:
1. Work on balance and foot strength early
2. Range will improve with time. Load the range that feels good now
3. Shoes can give support; barefoot is just a different stimulus (notice how the foot works differently at the top of a calf raise without the shoe)
4. Calf strength AND capacity through range are both big ones
5. Monitor symptoms 24h after. Don't get cocky. Injuries take time — even the lil ones!!
People often brush off mild sprains without adequate reconditioning and then wonder why it feels off months later. Rehab the small stuff like it matters, because it does!
When was your first ankle sprain?
📩 Save this for when you're wondering what should feel solid in early/mid phase ankle rehab!
