It feels like spring here this week so we get ready for some spring activities! How fast can you get the eggs into the basket? This activity is a great way to get exercise and burn energy! You can try this activity inside or outside! Stick tape to a wall or fence (sticky side out) and stick Easter eggs to it. COLOR CHANGING FLOWER SCIENCE EXPERIMENT This color changing flower experiment is a great spring activity for kids. It’s also a fun and easy way to introduce science experiments to children! 🧪🥼 With this experiment we tested a few things including: 1️⃣ What happens when you add food coloring to the water of white flowers. 2️⃣ Which type of flower absorbs food coloring better. 3️⃣ Which color food coloring absorbs best into the petals. ⭐️This experiment also helps visually illustrate how the flowers stem carries the water to the petals of the flower. Keira had a blast with this experiment and loved setting it up and wanted to do it over and over again. HOW TO SETUP FLOWER EXPERIMENT: 1. Pour water into glasses or vases 2. Add food coloring to water 3. Add healthy white flowers (less woody stems work better) 4. Wait for 24-72 hours to see results 5. Make a hypothesis of what will happen 6. Observer what happens 🧑‍🔬WHAT WAS TESTED & RESULTS🧑‍🔬 TYPE OF FLOWER We tested which type of flower absorbed the food coloring the best. Flowers tested: 1. Daisies 2. Roses 3. Petite Roses ➡️ RESULT= Roses absorbed the color better than the daisies. *Based on my research tulips would probably even work better because they have a less woody stem. However, I could not find any white tulips right now so we used what was available at our stores. FOOD COLORING ABSORPTION: We also testing which color absorbed the best into the flowers peddles. The colors we tested: 1. Green 2. Pink 3. Purple 4. Yellow 5. Blue ➡️ RESULT= The blue food coloring absorbed the best!
