SQL vs PostgreSQL — are they the same? 🤯❌ One of the most common Database Interview Questions for beginners! SQL is a programming language used to communicate with databases, while PostgreSQL is a Database Management System that stores, manages, and processes data. Understanding the difference between SQL and PostgreSQL is essential for SQL beginners, Backend Developers, Full Stack Developers, and anyone preparing for coding or technical interviews. 💻 The best part? Once you learn SQL, you can use your knowledge across databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, and SQL Server. 🚀 Save this for your next interview! 🔖 Follow DoraTechh for easy-to-understand Programming, SQL, Database, and Tech concepts. 🤖 #SQL #PostgreSQL #Database #Coding #Programming
Your index exists, your statistics are up to date… Yet SQL Server still performs an Index Scan. The reason might be an Implicit Conversion caused by a data type mismatch. #sqlserver #implicitconversion #indexseek #ai
📊 Your daily sales data is noisy — spikes, dips, randomness everywhere. The fix? A 3-Day Moving Average using SQL Server's AVG() OVER() window function. 🚀 In this reel, I break down the exact query, the ROWS vs RANGE trap that catches even experienced developers, and how to handle incomplete windows the professional way. 🔥 SQL Interview Trap! Think you know NOT IN? Think again. 👀 This query contains a tiny NULL that completely changes the result. WHERE employee_id NOT IN (2, 3, NULL) How many rows will SQL Server return? 🤔 A) 1 B) 2 C) 0 D) Error 💡 Comment your answer before checking! #SQL #SQLServer #SQLInterview #SQLQuestions #Database

The SQL didn’t change—but the execution plan probably did. Possible causes: • Outdated Statistics: The optimizer estimates the wrong number of rows and chooses an inefficient execution plan. • Missing or Dropped Index: An index was removed, disabled, or became fragmented, forcing a full table scan. • Parameter Sniffing: SQL Server or another database cached a plan optimized for one parameter value but reused it for very different data. • Data Growth: With 1 billion rows, data distribution changed, making the old plan inefficient. • Blocking or Locking: The query waits for another transaction holding locks, so execution time increases. • Resource Contention: High CPU, memory pressure, disk I/O, or concurrent workloads slow the database. • Execution Plan Regression: After an upgrade or statistics update, the optimizer picks a worse plan. • Partition Pruning Failed: A query that previously scanned one partition now scans the entire table. How to debug: 1. Compare the old and new execution plans. 2. Check index usage. 3. Update statistics. 4. Look for blocking sessions. 5. Monitor CPU, memory, and I/O. Interview Tip: When a query suddenly becomes slow without changing the SQL, investigate the execution plan first, not the query itself.
🛗😂 TOP vs LIMIT - Same Job, Different Database! Imagine 100 people waiting for an elevator… but only 5 are allowed inside 😭 That's basically what TOP and LIMIT do in SQL - they restrict the number of rows returned. But here's where SQL gets confusing 👀👇 🟣 SQL Server: TOP 5 🟡 MySQL / PostgreSQL: LIMIT 5 Same goal. Different syntax🤝 And remember - if you want the TOP 5 highest salaries, you need to sort first: ORDER BY salary DESC Otherwise, SQL isn't promising you the “best” 5… just 5 rows 👀 💬 Quick challenge: If you want the 3 lowest salaries, what would you write? A) ORDER BY salary DESC LIMIT 3 B) ORDER BY salary ASC LIMIT 3 C) TOP 3 salary Drop your answer 👇 📌 Save this for your SQL interview. 📤 Share it with someone learning SQL. 🔥 Follow @thedatastick for SQL concepts without the boring textbook lectures. 🔑 Keywords :- SQL, SQL Basics, SQL Tutorial, SQL Interview, SQL Queries, TOP, LIMIT, TOP vs LIMIT, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SELECT, ORDER BY, Data Analyst, Data Analytics, Database, SQL Tips, Learn SQL, SQL for Beginners, SQL Interview Questions, SQL Concepts, SQL Practice, TheDataStick
