I finally installed our stair runner… and it was so much more straightforward than I expected!! Once the kids were in bed, I cut the grippers to size, stapled down the underlay, unrolled the runner and secured it in place — all in one evening. The rug is the Vichy Beige A from @runrug and I’m honestly so happy with how it’s transformed the stairs. It feels softer, warmer and just finishes the hallway beautifully. If you’ve been thinking about installing a stair runner yourself, don’t hesitate. The rug finally came in and I’m in love 🤍🤍 I’m so glad that I decided to return the other one and get this one- I usually don’t return things, I just try to figure out a way to work with it. But, this rug was literally calling my name 😂 Would you have kept the other one? So glad to be done with the stairs! staircase runner install *on a budget* 💁🏼‍♀️ I found that custom length stair runners were thousands of dollars, so I ordered 3 affordable 2’6” x 8’ wool runners for under $400 and fit them together for a seamless look! *Stair runner length calculation below* RISER HEIGHT + TREAD DEPTH x TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS = RUNNER LENGTH….then add on a foot to allow for wiggle room or mistakes. Use carpet tape to help hold your runner in place as you move it into the perfect position, then fasten it with a narrow crown stapler. Also, it couldn’t exactly be donated – it’s a super awkward shape that wouldn’t fit anyone else’s landing, and it’s already been through the wars with kids and cats 🥴 Anyone else wish people read captions before jumping to conclusions?! #newcarpet #stairrunner #hallway #entrance

So worth it! When we finished building, I had some carpet let over and absolutely zero budget left! I used the old carpet to make a runner. 5 years on and the temporary solution was falling apart! I ripped up it up and replaced the underlay before whacking like my life depended on it. I absolutely LOVE it.
