Posted @withregram • @theknittingredpanda Steeking is an awesome skill to learn and it’s very versatile. Use it to knit all kind of projects in the round but without the hassle of purling ☺️! Although many find it a scary thought to take scissors to their knitting, with the right prep and yarn there is nothing to be afraid of! You’ll more likely want to steek all your projects once you’ve tried it. On the 10th January I will be teaching another class on steeking at @yarn_twisters in Calgary and there are still some spots left. The scariest thing in knitting is STEEKING without a doubt! I remember being afraid to even think about cutting my work. 😅 . But it is actually such a game changer, and really not that big of a deal once you've done it once (or twice). 🙃 . We've got a full in-depth YouTube video on our YouTube channel taking you through the process step by step on how I did it for this #aluminaryaffaircollar project. . The pattern is coming out next week in honour of the @spincycle_yarns 20th anniversary and I'm so humbled to be part of the collection that's being produced to mark the occasion. ❤️ . Done! Here is how to finish your steeked cardigan with a protective ribbon! 🧵 I love this idea even for a thrifted or knit flat cardigan. One thing I want to add is the ribbon shouldn’t be too thick, a Jacquard style ribbon is best 🖤 #ribbon #steeking #sewing #knitting

How to make a sandwiched steek in 80 seconds!! This series of reels shows the steps to making a sandwiched steek for a cardigan. I took some quick videos while I was steeking the gorgeous Fenn cardigan by @trin_annelie Hope it helps some of you.🌷 Anne’s stunning design has all the instructions, and you have a couple of other options for reinforcing the steek edge. I just like to needle felt mine as it instantly deals with all those ends at the same time. #steeking #knitting #knit #knitter #cardigan

Yes! We have success! I was hoping to use Fennec from @littlefoxyarn for a Maia sweater by @bloom.create in @pompommag but I needed to be sure the yarn would needle felt to secure the steek. After needle felting about 5 stitches, I cut into the knitted fabric to see if it would remain intact. It looks very stable so now it’s time to buy yarn!
