50 years ago today David Akeman also known as Stringbean appeared on the Saturday night Grand Ole Opry then he and his wife Estell went home and found two men burglarizing their house. David was shot and killed as soon as he walked in the door Estell then pleaded with them for her life but they killed her too, the next morning their neighbor Opry star Grandpa Jones noticed that there was no smoke coming from their chimney like there usually was in the morning and went over to see what was wrong and that's when he found their bodies, Stringbean was 58 Estell was 59 Video Credit @marcthe_blues_man #davidakeman #stringbean #grandoleopry @opry #opry #countrymusic #realcountrymusic #wehatepopcountry #dollyparton #willienelson #georgestrait #reba #waylonjennings #alanjackson #merlehaggard #hankwilliams #georgejones #codyjohnson #lorettalynn #hankwilliamsjr #tylerchilders #dwightyoakam #codyjinks #travistritt #vincegill #tammywynette #clintblack #keithwhitley #martyrobbins #ernesttubb #johnnypaycheck

June 17, 1915 David "Stringbean" Akeman is born in Annville, Kentucky. As a banjo player, he joined Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys. But he is better known as a comedian, noted for a striped shirt and pants that seem belted at his thighs. Stringbean's banjo style was rooted in old-time clawhammer technique. He used a drop-thumb style, striking the strings with his thumb and picking up with his index and middle fingers. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in the 1940s, remaining a member until he was murdered by burglars in his home in 1973. #stringbean

There’s just something different about my String Bean, I found this little bug in the crack of a sidewalk last winter and gave her enough nuts for hibernation, this year she has come out and can defend herself and fill the cheeks, she wants to be with daddy 24/7 and I love her so much, fill the cheeks my sweet baby #reels #chipmunks #stringbean #loveyou
