This month and looking forward, what could you do each day to enjoy the process? 💬💙💻
Eat better, feel better, perform better 🥗✨
This Nutrition Month, we asked our Food Technology faculty some simple but important questions about everyday nutrition.
From reading food labels and staying hydrated to getting enough protein and making healthier food swaps, here are practical tips every student can use in their daily routine 💡
Because healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes, it’s just about making better choices, one meal at a time 🌱

During my visit to @jbhs_braves health center earlier this month, I witnessed firsthand the impact of our work being done in Harrisburg - menstrual products arriving at Philadelphia schools thanks to the $3 million we secured in last year’s budget!
Special thanks to @repdarishaparker for raising the awareness needed for this essential initiative! 🩺

Sunday night children’s book writing sessions moved from the kitchen table to the sand. Feeling re-inspired to write in a new environment was such a refreshing experience. This is your sign that sometimes it’s not a creative block, it could just be a need to find an energizing environment.
Learn MORE in LESS time, so you can enjoy the things you love outside of school & avoid burnout ✅💯📕👩🏽🎓
-
1️⃣ Second Brain - use technology to organise your life & manage the information thrown at you you, so that you can focus on important things like study, without being overwhelmed. For example, a Calendar to keep track of events, a To-Do list to track tasks 🧠
.
2️⃣ Pomodoro Technique - Study for 25min, then rest for 5 mins. Repeat x4 then take a longer 10-20min break. This will help you stay focused, efficient, and get work done in WAY less time ⏰
.
3️⃣ Active Recall - retrieve information when prompted without reading/looking at your notes (eg Flashcards, Blurting, Practice Questions), to force your brain to retain the information for next time, allowing you to remember and learn FASTER✍🏽
.
4️⃣ Spaced Repetition - revise content at regular increasing intervals to remember it better. For example, once when you get home from school, then again that weekend, the next weekend, the next fortnight, the next month etc 📅
-
PS: if you are truly struggling with burnout and it is impacting your mental health, PLEASE speak to someone. Your teachers, parents, school counsellor, GP or a mental health professional etc. We are here to help & you will NOT be punished or viewed as weak fo r asking for help 💗💗

College life is chaotic, but here’s how to actually tell if your body is holding up well ⬇️
1. You fall asleep quickly when you finally get to bed
This is actually a good sign. Chronic stress and poor sleep tend to cause the opposite (racing thoughts, trouble winding down).
Falling asleep easily usually means your nervous system isn’t overloaded, even during a hectic week.
2. Your appetite is fairly consistent day to day
Steady hunger cues (not swinging between not eating all day and feeling starving at night) are a sign your eating patterns and blood sugar are staying regulated, even with a chaotic schedule.
3. You stay emotionally steady during exams
Getting through stressful stretches without falling apart is a sign your coping skills are getting stronger.
4. You bounce back fast from the “dorm plague”
Constant exposure to new germs is basically immune system training. Quick recovery from minor bugs means your defenses are adapting.
5. You feel reasonably alert during the day without relying on caffeine
If you’re not needing coffee just to function by mid-afternoon, that’s a good sign your sleep and energy levels are actually in balance — not just being propped up.
6. You feel normal the next morning after a night out
Not feeling wiped out, nauseous, or foggy the day after suggests you’re staying hydrated and not overdoing it, which is a better sign than “bouncing back fast” from rough mornings.
7. You can walk campus without getting winded
All that walking (and stair-climbing) is quietly building your cardio.
8. You can stay focused through back-to-back classes
Holding attention across different subjects all day shows solid mental stamina and cognitive flexibility.
