A 600 year old walled village in South Korea Location 👇 Follow @morelegsroom for more bucket list places and trips most people never plan You take a train from Seoul. You arrive in Suncheon. And suddenly it feels like you stepped into another century. This Village was built as a fortress to protect residents from Japanese invasions. The stone walls still wrap around the entire village. And yes. People still live here. You can walk along the ramparts. Look down at tiled rooftops. Watch smoke rise from traditional homes. 📍 Naganeupseong Folk Village, Suncheon near Yeosu 🚄 Reachable from Seoul by KTX to Suncheon then local bus or taxi 🎟 Entrance fee is under $3 🏡 You can stay overnight in a traditional hanok inside the village Most people combine it with Suncheon Bay visit or like me… We visited some temples and the bay in Yeosu. My favorite spot in Naganeupseong Walled Town! Wandering through my favorite corner of Naganeupseong Walled Town feels like stepping straight into a living postcard. The thatched roofs, stone walls, and peaceful village paths make every moment feel timeless. I love how the slow rhythm of this place lets you breathe, pause, and truly take it all in. It’s a spot I’ll always come back to whenever I need a little piece of history and calm. Btw, some people call it Nagan Eupseong Folk Village. Almost no tourists make it here - but this might be Korea’s most insane cherry blossom spot. Seonamsa Temple in Suncheon has some of the most beautiful double cherry blossoms I’ve seen in Korea, with deep pink, round petals and barely any international tourists around. Start early with the KTX to Suncheon, take the local bus to Seonamsa, then continue to Songgwangsa Temple and Nagan Eupseong Folk Village for a full spring day trip. It’s a long day from Seoul, but absolutely worth it.
