I think that quote hits even deeper when you add the memories. “I think midlife is just becoming who you were at sixteen again but loving her this time.” For me, that goes way further back than sixteen. It goes straight to being a little girl waking up in Florida. I remember visiting all the time growing up because my grandparents had a vacation rental in Siesta Key. I can still see it so clearly. Waking up at 6:30 in the morning, walking out onto that fifth floor balcony of the high rise condo, the air already warm, the Gulf stretching out forever. And then the dolphins. Right there in the water. Like they were part of my morning routine. I just knew. Standing on that balcony looking over the Gulf of Mexico, I remember thinking, this is home. This is where I want to be. This is where I feel free. Life happened after that. Responsibilities. Growing up. Doing what made sense. But that little girl on the balcony never left. She just waited. So when people talk about moving to Florida and living in Florida in midlife, I do not see a crisis. I see a return. I see someone finally honoring the version of themselves who already knew where they felt most alive. Sometimes the move is not random. Sometimes it started decades ago on a balcony at sunrise, watching dolphins and deciding, without even realizing it, this is the life I want. Okay I need to test something because I’m convinced half of you just watch the beach and ignore the captions. If you are actually reading what I write under these videos and not just vibing to the waves, drop something funny in the comments so I know you’re really here and not just hypnotized by palm trees and sunshine.
