I was invited to document an exclusive tour of Canada’s largest abandoned mansion before its upcoming renovation! This is the before—stay tuned for the after.
Full video on my Youtube Channel
Located on the shores of Lake Temiskaming in Haileybury, Ontario, this 65,000 sq. ft. mansion was envisioned by lumber magnate Peter Grant in the early 2000s. The estate was designed to feature luxurious amenities such as an art gallery, a subterranean boathouse, a private golf course, and even indoor waterfalls. However, construction halted during the 2008 financial crisis, leaving the mansion unfinished and abandoned for over 15 years. thank you to @mansionimpossibletv for the Invite

5 Things you Have to do in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario!
✨SAVE for your Ontario Bucket List✨
1️⃣ Hike the Devil’s Rock (Mani-doo Aja-Bikong) Trail
This epic hike leads to gorgeous views over cliffs that drop 300ft straight down into Lake Temiskaming.
There are 2 different trails leading to the cliffs:
- You can take the shorter 1.2km (one way) trail from the parking lot off Hwy 567 for a 20 minute walk to the lookouts with no elevation gain
- Or you can take the more scenic 2km (one way) trail from Bucke Park Campground and hike uphill to the lookout.
2️⃣ Explore the Waterfront
There are two different community waterfronts you’ll want to visit while you’re here:
- Haileybury Beach has the absolute COOLEST swimming area! The outdoor swimming pool has a sand beach, but is completely separated from the lake and is filled with treated water. The beach also has a 150ft waterslide, change rooms and playground close by all open to the public for free!
- New Liskeard Waterfront is a gorgeous hub of activity! Enjoy the sandy beach and go for a dip in the lake or get some ice cream and take a walk along the boardwalk. Kids will love the playground, mini-putt and splash pad!
3️⃣ Check out Pete’s Dam Park
Hike the trails along the creek and explore the picturesque rapids and waterfalls along the way!
4️⃣ Visit the Cobalt Mining Museum and go on a Mine Tour
In the early 1900s, silver was discovered in Northern Ontario as the railway was being built between North Bay and New Liskeard. The mining town of Cobalt sprung up overnight!
Stop by the museum to learn about the history of the area and the mining boom and see displays of different rocks and minerals.
Take an underground tour into one of the old silver mines. Tours run during the summer, 3 times a day - book your spot ahead of time.
5️⃣ Take a boat ride on Lake Temiskaming.
Experience a completely different perspective by getting out on the water! Get out for some fishing or a leisurely ride to take in the scenery around you!

Its unbelievably cool that Fitz is the way he is. Walking with my pal @brigid.wilkinson and we both saw how much Fitz just enjoys sitting looking around at things. So lovely to see, just not sure what I can do to my @apple iphone so it doesn't have those extra light reflections in the video.
