Man, January felt like it was six months long and I’m so glad it’s past us 😅 at least it was a strong reading month?

If you saw my “Top 12 reads of last year” videos, you already know The Names by Florence Knapp made the list.
This novel is a powerful and at times devastating story about domestic violence and the many possible outcomes that can follow. But it’s also a story about names and the weight they can carry.
It opens with a mother naming her second child, a son. She can choose her husband’s demanded tradition of inheriting his name, the name she has always loved, or the name her young daughter suggests. Then the story splits into three timelines, each following what happens depending on which name she chooses.
The subject matter is heavy, but there’s also so much beauty, restoration, and complexity in every version of the story. It’s fiction, but it feels true in that universal way that only great novels can.
Over the last two months, I’ve been quite privileged to have some time to sit down and read. What a treat! I heartily recommend The Graces by @breeze_barrington and Motherland by @lukepepera - both fantastic books! 🙌🏼 What are you reading at the moment? 📚

Our January book club read is finished! Did this book have anyone else constantly thinking about how and when they were going to die 🙄 What did you guys think of this book? Where does it fall on your list of book by her?
