📍 @nelsonatkins , 4525 Oak St, Kansas City MO Downtown, perched along the side of a parking structure at 9th and Central, 18 silent figures sit in a circle in Donald Lipski’s Rodin Rodannadanna (2000), a public artwork made of fiberglass and lit with soft blue neon at night. A playful yet contemplative piece, it reimagines Auguste Rodin’s iconic The Thinker repeating it over and over, as if caught in a loop of reflection (or over thinking). Just a few miles away, nestled in the sculpture park at the @nelsonatkins , sits the original inspiration. Rodin first conceived The Thinker in 1880 as part of The Gates of Hell, meant to represent Dante deep in thought. Over time, it became a standalone symbol of introspection. The bronze cast in #KansasCity was completed in 1949 and remains one of only 28 full-sized casts in the world. Two works. One historic. One contemporary. Both inviting stillness.
