Some of the biggest conversations happening in the industry today are topics we’ve been discussing for years. ERP risk. Organizational readiness. Vendor bias. AI expectations versus reality. Why strategy and governance matter more than software. Technology continues to evolve, but the underlying reasons digital transformations succeed or fail have not changed. The organizations that get it right focus less on hype and more on fundamentals: • Clear business strategy • Executive alignment • Strong governance • Realistic expectations • A focus on people and processes, not just systems These are the conversations we’ll be diving deeper into at Stratosphere 2026. Stratosphere is a vendor neutral conference bringing together transformation leaders, executives, and experts to discuss what actually drives successful digital transformation. If you’re navigating ERP strategy, AI adoption, or enterprise transformation, this is where those conversations happen. Register here: thirdstage-consulting.com/stratosphere
For nearly two decades, I have challenged many of the assumptions organizations accept as truth when it comes to ERP and digital transformation. ERP projects rarely fail because the technology itself is broken. They fail when organizations underestimate the importance of strategy, governance, and organizational readiness. AI is not a shortcut. Cloud is not automatically modernization. Customization is not differentiation. What consistently separates successful transformations from costly failures? • Clear alignment between business strategy and technology • Executive ownership and accountability • Strong governance structures • Honest assessments of organizational readiness • A long term strategy that preserves flexibility and optionality Trends will continue to evolve. The fundamentals rarely change. If your organization is evaluating ERP, navigating digital transformation, or exploring AI, the most important question is not which technology you choose. The real question is whether your organization is ready to support it. You can find more insights at thirdstageconsulting.com and we will also be exploring these topics in depth at Stratosphere 2026.
For nearly two decades, we’ve been challenging the narratives that most organizations accept as fact. ERP does not fail because the technology is flawed. It fails because strategy, governance, and organizational readiness are overlooked. AI is not a shortcut. Cloud is not automatically modernization. Customization is not differentiation. What consistently separates successful transformations from costly failures? • Clear business alignment • Executive ownership • Defined governance structures • Honest readiness assessments • A strategy that protects long term optionality Trends will continue to evolve. The fundamentals do not. If your organization is navigating ERP selection, digital transformation, or AI integration, the real question is not which tool you choose. It is whether your operating model is ready to support it. Your ERP is stable. Good. But stability alone doesn’t create competitive advantage. If performance hasn’t lifted, decisions aren’t faster, and margins aren’t improving, your ERP has quietly become transactional instead of strategic. Most organizations stop at “go-live success” and never build the analytics layer, optimization phase, or AI-driven insight that actually drives growth. Stability is survival. Optimization is dominance. The real question is "are you operating… or actually winning?" #ERP #DigitalTransformation #BusinessStrategy #CIO #CFO EnterpriseTransformation AI DataDriven Leadership GrowthStrategy TechLeadership
After more than two decades working in digital transformation and ERP consulting, one reality is becoming harder to ignore. The industry is broken. Organizations are spending more on technology than ever before, yet many are struggling to achieve proportional business value. Cloud subscriptions continue to rise, vendor ecosystems are narrowing customer choice, and many companies are unknowingly giving up flexibility and control in the process. At the same time, the industry continues to recycle the same playbook. Lead with technology before operations. Trust the vendor roadmap. Assume modernization automatically equals value. Digital transformation should be about improving how organizations operate, not locking them into higher cost structures and reduced strategic flexibility. Fixing this starts with leaders asking tougher questions and thinking more independently about the decisions they make.
Autonomy is moving from concept to capability. But at the exact same time, another story is unfolding. A much less comfortable one. Zimmer Biomet’s $172 million lawsuit against Deloitte continues to expose the operational and legal fallout of ERP disruption. Europe is still struggling to stabilize a deeply troubled Oracle implementation. Daedong USA’s ERP injunction highlights how transformation failures can escalate into legal and operational standoffs. And the EU Commission’s investigation into SAP underscores the growing regulatory scrutiny surrounding enterprise platform dominance and implementation accountability. These aren’t isolated incidents. They are reminders of how fragile enterprise transformation remains. Because while vendors are racing to deliver AI-driven autonomy, many organizations are still struggling to stabilize the foundational systems beneath them. This creates a split reality. The future is arriving faster than organizations can safely absorb it. On one side, platforms promise autonomous execution. Self-directing workflows. Intelligent orchestration layers capable of managing complexity at machine speed. On the other, organizations are still wrestling with data readiness, governance discipline, and operational alignment—the prerequisites that determine whether any system, AI-driven or not, can function reliably. Technology ambition is accelerating. Organizational readiness is not. This is the defining tension of enterprise software in 2026. Innovation is no longer the constraint. Absorption is. The winners won’t be the companies that adopt agentic AI the fastest. They’ll be the ones that build the operational foundation strong enough to survive it. Organizations are taking back control from vendors by investing in platforms. Build your own capabilities, gain a competitive edge, and own your tech stack. #PlatformStrategy #TechControl #DigitalTransformation #BusinessSolutions #Innovation #OwnYourIP #EnterpriseTech #FutureOfWork
Don't let these risks end your career: taxes, AI liability, green claims, supply chain issues. Get accountable owners and documented evidence for each. Install an independent advisory board with a clear charter. Build early warning indicators your board actually reads, not just heat maps.
🎬 Episode 15 | From Chaos to Control The Future of Systems: AI & Autonomous Decision-Making The next decade won’t belong to companies that have systems. It will belong to companies whose systems can think. ERP is evolving — from recording transactions to predicting outcomes. AI-driven systems are already: ✔ Predicting stockouts ✔ Optimizing operations in real time ✔ Detecting risks before they escalate ✔ Flagging margin pressure early The future isn’t more dashboards. It’s fewer clicks and smarter decisions. Soon, leaders won’t search for insights. They’ll ask — and the system will answer. The real shift is not digital transformation. It’s intelligent transformation. Companies that react will fall behind. Companies that predict — and automate decisions — will lead. Because when systems start thinking, organizations start scaling. #ERP #ArtificialIntelligence #DigitalTransformation #Leadership #EnterpriseSystems #FutureOfWork #FromChaosToControl #RealSoftERP
Most company transformations fail. Only 25% deliver lasting benefits. The rest fade out. More initiatives aren't ambition, they're unmanaged risk.
