Voltaire was born in 1694. He lived in a world full of injustice, ignorance, and oppression, yet he refused to be silent. From early on, he used reason, wit, and critique to challenge authority, superstition, and blind tradition.
Voltaire wrote about freedom, tolerance, and the power of thought. He believed that questioning, skepticism, and courage are essential to resist tyranny and protect human dignity. For him, words were not mere expression—they were instruments of justice.

Most people think emotional reactions are personality traits.
In reality, they are often nervous system capacity issues.
The “tolerance window” refers to the range within which the brain can process stress effectively.
Inside this range, thinking remains clear and responses stay measured.
Outside it, reactivity increases — either as hyper-arousal (anger, irritability, impulsivity) or hypo-arousal (shutdown, numbness, low drive).
Emotional stability is not the absence of stress.
It is the ability to remain within your functional range under stress.
And capacity can be trained.
Sleep, recovery, emotional processing, and lifestyle regulation all influence this window.
Before labeling yourself “short-tempered” or “low motivation,”
consider whether the system is overloaded.
Stability is capacity — not suppression.

Sometimes I meet people with less knowledge, education, or experience than myself. It reminds me to be more understanding and patient with their level of thinking and communication, simply because they may not have anything better to offer at that stage of their lives. It is beyond their current capacity.
Over time, I realized that there are also people far more knowledgeable, educated, and experienced than me… and they could choose to deal with me the same way.
That realization changed the way I deal with people. It brought me more humility, more understanding, and a greater sense of peace of mind when dealing with people from different walks of life, backgrounds, and stages of growth.

Tolerance doesn’t feel like surrender.
It feels like adjustment.
Like adapting.
Like being realistic.
At what point did tolerating it
stop feeling temporary
and start feeling normal?
This is the quiet war. #tolerance
1. For those of you tracking my healing process, this video (and cover photo) was taken over a week ago, on Jun 2nd.
2. When I say, “listen to everything”, I don’t mean listen to everything there is out there. That would obviously make you go mad or become a “mass murdering fuckhead”- @eddieizzard What I do mean is, listen to all sides.
“Human beings are a species of animal who were made to live in tight, insular communities designed by biology, not by choice. What this means is that we were meant to live tightly and interdependently with people who think differently than us, feel differently than us and behave in ways we don’t like.
This interdependence on the “other” – ie the person or people who are “too familiar to ignore but too different to tolerate” (Yuval Noah Harari) - is fundamental to our design. The familiar comforts us - it gives us the safety necessary to survive and the security necessary to thrive – but it is the difference that spurs us to grow, to develop and to evolve. All of nature is like this.”
