Incredible footage from Castrojeriz, Burgos, Spain as the total solar eclipse reaches totality.
right before totality
Ibiza just witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse For just over one minute, the Moon completely covered the Sun above the Mediterranean as the sky turned dark during sunset on the White Isle. Ibiza witnessed totality on 12 August 2026, making this one of the most unforgettable solar eclipse moments ever seen in Spain and the Balearic Islands. This is the kind of view people travel across the world for and many will never experience in their lifetime. via @hollyhutchdj
Ibiza just witnessed a sunset unlike any other On August 12, a total solar eclipse passed over Ibiza at sunset, briefly plunging the Mediterranean sky into darkness as the Moon completely covered the Sun. With the Balearic Islands positioned along the path of totality, the rare celestial event created one of the most unforgettable sights the White Isle has ever seen. via: @hollyhutchdj @theibizaconciergeservices
Spanish two-time Olympian skateboarder Danny León launched off a custom-built ramp on August 12, 2026, timing his jump to the exact moment of totality during a total solar eclipse in rural Spain, creating a silhouette against the eclipsed sun. The eclipse’s path of totality swept across the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, northern Spain and the extreme northeast of Portugal, with over 90% coverage visible from parts of the UK. It marked the first total solar eclipse to cross Spain in over a century. Pulling off the shot required precise planning: exact camera positioning, a custom ramp, and split-second jump timing matched to the brief window of totality. The resulting clip has drawn over 7 million likes online. DM for credit or removal requests. All rights and credits belong to the respective owner(s). Totality just stunning
🌑 Spain briefly turned into night in the middle of the day. On August 12, 2026, the Moon passed directly between the Earth and the Sun, completely blocking the Sun for viewers inside the narrow path of totality. The result was one of nature’s most spectacular sights, daylight fading into darkness as the solar corona became visible around the Moon. The total eclipse crossed northern Spain, along with parts of Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia and the Atlantic, while large parts of Europe and North Africa experienced a partial eclipse. For a few extraordinary minutes, the Sun, Moon and Earth aligned almost perfectly, creating a dramatic reminder of just how powerful, and precisely timed, the movements of our solar system are. ☀️🌙🌎 #SolarEclipse #TotalSolarEclipse #Eclipse #Spain #Europe SpainEclipse SolarEclipse2026 Sun Moon Earth Astronomy Space Nature NatureIsAmazing SolarSystem Universe Cosmos CelestialEvent Sky NightDuringDay Science SpaceNews AstronomyNews Europe Iceland Greenland Russia Portugal France Italy UnitedKingdom NorthAfrica WorldNews ScienceNews Stargazing Eclipse SolarCorona MoonShadow TheGlobalDose
A total solar eclipse crossed the sky on August 12, 2026, creating one of the most extraordinary astronomical sights of the year. 🌑☀️ The path of totality swept across parts of Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain, while a partial eclipse was visible across a much wider region. For a brief moment, the Moon completely covered the Sun, revealing the solar corona and turning daylight into twilight. You’ll get a rough average of 96 seconds of totality on August 12… and here’s how to make the most of every one. 🌞🌑💫 ⚠️ Eye safety: only ever look at the Sun through ISO 12312-2 or ISO 12312 - 2:2015 certified eclipse glasses (not sunglasses!). The only moment it’s safe to look without them is during 100% totality so put your glasses back on the instant the Sun begins to reappear. 🌑 TOMORROW, THE MOON TURNS DAY INTO NIGHT. On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will sweep across parts of Earth. The Moon will pass directly between Earth and the Sun, completely covering the Sun's bright disk for people standing inside the narrow path of totality. For those few moments, daylight can suddenly become darkness. The sky changes. The temperature can drop. Stars and planets can become visible. And around the completely dark Moon, the Sun's enormous outer atmosphere, called the corona, becomes visible. It's one of the strangest sights our planet can experience. But here's what makes a total solar eclipse possible. The Sun is about 400 times wider than the Moon. But it's also about 400 times farther away. That extraordinary coincidence makes the Sun and Moon appear almost exactly the same size in our sky. So when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun... it can completely cover it. On August 12th, 2026, the path of totality will cross parts of northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, Spain and a small part of Portugal. Many other regions across the Northern Hemisphere will experience a partial solar eclipse instead. So if you're outside the path of totality, you won't experience the complete darkness of totality. But you'll still be able to witness the Moon taking a bite out of the Sun, provided you observe it safely. And remember: Never look directly at the Sun during the partial phases without proper solar eye protection. Only during the brief period of totality, when the Sun's bright face is completely covered, is it safe to look directly at the eclipse. 🌑☀️ Tomorrow... the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun. And for a few extraordinary minutes... day becomes night. 📌 Save this Reel. 📤 Share it with someone who loves astronomy. Over a year of planning and 10 days of in person scouting culminated on August 12 2026, when I captured my most complicated photo to date- a total solar eclipse at sunset, perfectly aligned with a White Stork nesting on a church tower near Zaragoza, Spain! These images are now available as prints. No AI, no composites- this is all the result of immense planning and preparation, together with @tobiasyoder and @lift2runstronger. #eclipse #solareclipse #totality #totalsolareclipse #spain
On August 12, 2026, the Moon will completely cover the Sun in one of the biggest astronomical events of the year. This total solar eclipse will cross the Arctic, Atlantic Ocean, Iceland, and parts of Spain. For people inside the path of totality, daylight will turn into darkness as the Moon blocks the Sun. The best part? During totality, the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona, becomes visible. Totality will last for up to 2 minutes and 18 seconds. So, where will you be able to see the eclipse?
