🧱 2024/09/11 • This is a hand-tracking interactive system for sound and visuals. • In #TouchDesigner, I used the #MediaPipe plugin developed by @blankensmithing to recognize the coordinates of the user’s fingers in front of the camera. I extracted three values: the distance between the index finger and thumb of each hand, and the distance between both hands. These values are sent to the audio software and also affect the size of circular points in the visuals, as well as distort the image. • In #VCVRack, hand signals are received via the #OSC protocol and interact with the modular synthesizer. The three values are mapped to the OSC Frequencer, Drum Attack, and Liquid Filter. When both fingers close, the primary audio track is muted. • This system is an experimental project with potential future applications. The Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) and its amazing song visually analized. I didn't even know this bird existed until @yuriy_melnyk_photography contacted me, sharing with me his beautiful video of a Carolina Wren asking me to visualize it. Since I liked it a lot I gave it a try. The song has a very defined and compact pattern so I imagined it as a closed, cyclic visual loop and tried to organize the visual system like that. 🧱 2024/11/20 • “What If Dogs Could Be Musicians?” 「如果狗也可以成為音樂家？」 • This is a real-time visual and music interactive system generated from a dog’s patterns. In @touchdesigner you can turn any video into a particle system with displacement in just a few steps. Start with a Movie File In, connect a TOP to POP, and choose Height R to control the displacement. Add two Randoms — one for scale, one for rotation — and use a Copy SOP with a tiny box to instance your points.
