Paying it forward on the Pacific Crest Trail in what has become a near-yearly tradition - trail magic on the PCT! (But don't call me a trail angel)
This year, at Onion Valley Trailhead in California's Sierra Nevada.
Over the course of three days I got to talk to hundreds of hikers from all over the world - and witnessed dozens of my new international hiker friends eat their first Rice Krispie treats.

Camino Portugués Coastal Route - Day 4
We had another taste of trail magic first thing this morning! There was a pop up on the side of the trail with food and drinks, and the friendliest Portuguese man who even had an Australia hat that he put on for us 😂
Today was a much slower day, my feet really started to give up which actually worked out well because we only wanted to walk 13km to the next big town which has a shoe store, and boy did it come through with the goods! I’ll share which ones I decided to go with tomorrow and fingers crossed they help 🤞🏼
Day 4 stats:
Distance: 13km (Castelo do Neiva to Viana do Castelo)
Passport Stamps: 3
We finished the Appalachian Trail, summitting Mount Kathadin on August 13th 2026, 119 days and 24 minutes after starting from Springer mountain on April 16th.
We didn’t plan to finish in four months, but we figured we’d be able to make it after completing half of the trail in a little over two months. We didn’t account for the fact that the trail would become a lot more difficult in the second half. But we like a challenge, and we like pushing it. The Appalachian Trail sure allowed us to find our limits.
The trail became more difficult as we progressed further north, with more rocks, more roots, more climbing, and even some scrambling. Still, we don’t really have a favorite section. We’re loved the ambiance of the Smokies, the climb out of Lehigh Gap, the views in the Whites, the jungle gym in Machoosuc Notch, and of course the climb up Kathadin.
We saw so much wildlife. Bears, snakes, a porcupine, and even a crayfish. Seeing a moose was definitely of our highlights. We’ve never seen so much wildlife on any trail we’ve ever been on. It’s been great, especially since none of the animals showed up while we were in our tent, except for the mice, of course.
The AT is an incredible trail, but once again, the people are what makes this trail special. We’ve received so much trail magic, and people that went out of their way to help out. We’ve also met a lot of incredible hikers that we hope to stay in touch with.
The Appalachian Trail has been one of the hardest and most rewarding things we’ve ever done, and were incredibly proud to have completed it.
We’re so excited to go back home, but after a couple of weeks, we might be even more excited to get back on trail again. But first, we’re going to catch up on some sleep, relax a bit, and see our friends and family.
Thanks everyone for following along. We really appreciated your support along the way. And we might just be back on trail again really soon!

The man, the myth, the legend - Gordy Ainsleigh!
First to run and establish the @wser 100 when he was told it wasn’t possible for a human to run that distance along that terrain in under 24 hours.
77 years young and possibly more rare than a Bigfoot sighting, Gordy was out enjoying the mountains, running the 31.7 miles on Western States training camp day 1!
Gordy looked fluid and in his home turf as he navigated the trail carrying extra food and drinks like it was a walk down the street from the supermarket. He just prefers not to wear a pack and feels it makes him hotter.
He told me this summer will mark 50 years since he first proved that a human could run the 100 mile route in under 24 hours back in 1974 at age 27. At 77 years young he’s still out there making his way and taking in the energy of the mountain.
He shared countless positive exchanges as runners passed - trail magic going both ways!
Just some girls riding bikes and spreading a little trail magic on Mt. Tam. ✨🚲🍫
Although one of those girls happens to be Jenny Maxwell… who helped invent the energy bar, founded @eatjambar decades later, and apparently has no problem dropping me on her vintage mountain bike. 💁🏼♀️
Seriously. Jenny was FLYING.
We rode. We laughed. We ate JAMBARs. And we left a few tucked along the way for some lucky trail users to find.
Because snacks taste better when they magically appear in the mountains. 💁🏼♀️
But that little bit of trail magic also feels pretty fitting for Jenny.
She’s spent a lifetime combining movement, food, music and doing good. After helping create the original PowerBar in 1985, she eventually went back to the kitchen and created JAMBAR, a woman-owned, Marin-made company that gives 50% of its profits to organizations supporting active living and music.
That’s a mission and energy I can get behind.
Build something good.
Do some good.
Leave a little goodness behind.
And apparently, make your friends their best version of themselves while you’re at it. 😂
Trail angels 😇 are a thing. We are real. 🎶🚲🍫

2,000 miles down. 653 to go!
A day of volcanic rock, trail magic, rugged peaks, and some of the best mountain views yet.
Three Fingered Jack was incredible, but finishing the day with a campsite overlooking Mount Jefferson which might have stolen the show.
Now for some rest and hopefully an epic sunrise tomorrow.
