Everything goes wrong in seconds — the whole tree slams into the house and wrecks it. Right on cue, the owner runs out, sees the destruction, and chases after him while he panics and takes off. Absolute chaos.

Red Flags:
1.) No hard hats
2.) No chainsaw protective chaps
3.) 1 person should be in drop zone not 3(1.5x the height of tree)
4.) Skid steer should not be in drop zone
5.) Should not pull rope with a truck. Hard to judge tension
6.) “Bull” rope (1” or 3/4” in diameter) was probably old and failed due to cycles to failure
7.) Too large of a tree to fell in that location
8.) Too much biomass on the back side of the tree
Result:
1.) Totaled skid steer and operator could’ve easily been crushed
2.) Other two people in drop zone could’ve been crushed since escape routes were compromised
3.) Power line ripped out to house that could cause fire or electrocution to people on site
4.) Houses probably lost power
5.) Potential property damage to houses, driveways, and cars needing an insurance claim
6.) Rope is totaled and needs to be replaced
7.) Cutter or crew could be terminated if not the business owner
Solution:
1.) Stick to the most accredited tree companies in your area, even if they are most expensive
2.) Catch them before they start making the felling cut and shut it down. Contact their supervisor immediately. Tree crew should remove this in pieces, either manually with ropes or equipment like cranes for a safer operation.

I thought for a long time about whether I should post this video or not.
In the end, it’s a good example of how one small wrong decision in a tree can end everything. 🚫🌳
In the same tree, I had already removed six similar crown sections in exactly the same way – without any issues at all. 🪵
After watching this clip over and over again, one thing became clear:
I was incredibly lucky.
Luckily, I was working with a friction hitch that starts to slip once a certain amount of force is applied.
➡️ the system extended
➡️ much less load on my body
On top of that, the tip of the limb was able to rest on the ground, which helped dissipate a large amount of the weight.
And by the way – the Stileo by @couranttreecare (steel-core lanyard) is extremely strong 👌😂
Conclusion:
Always work redundant.
Without my main system, I would have been completely unsecured after cutting the short lanyard. 🚫

Ich habe lange überlegt, ob ich dieses Video hochladen soll.
Am Ende ist es aber ein gutes Beispiel dafür, wie eine kleine Fehlentscheidung im Baum alles beenden kann. 🚫🌳
Im selben Baum habe ich zuvor sechs vergleichbare Kronenteile auf genau die gleiche Art entfernt – komplett ohne Probleme. 🪵
Dieses Video habe ich mir danach immer wieder angeschaut und gemerkt:
Ich hatte einfach verdammt viel Glück.
Zum Glück habe ich mit einem Klemmknoten gearbeitet, der ab einer gewissen Kraft auf dem Seil rutscht.
➡️ Die Sicherung hat sich verlängert
➡️ deutlich weniger Last auf meinem Körper
Zusätzlich konnte die Astspitze auf dem Boden aufliegen und so einen Großteil des Gewichts ableiten.
Und ansonsten ist die Stileo von @couranttreecare (Stahlkern-Halteseil) extrem stabil 👌😂
Fazit:
Immer redundant arbeiten.
Ohne mein Hauptsystem wäre ich nach dem Durchtrennen der Kurzsicherung ungesichert gewesen.🚫
