Analysing your tracks on Rekordbox is the first and most important step to take when learning to mix. Rekordbox scans the tracks for key information such as the BPM, key, & waveform- make sure you allow the track to finish analysing before you press play. #beginnerdj #howtodj #djtips #rekordbox #newdj
This is the very first thing to get comfortable with if youâre new to DJing! Pick a couple tracks, I recommend instrumental house music (4 on the floor is easy to learn beatmatching with an obvious kick every beat) and fade back and forth between the two.

I tend to use the IN and OUT points most (Iâve found that at venues where the decks have been used to death the pads are can be sticky & unreliable) BUT practice with both as punching into a loop with the touch of a pad is super quick and easy!

Day 11â Manual Beat Match (No Sync)
If you rely on the BPM on your screen, youâre training your eyes⊠not your ears.
And in real DJ situations, your ears are what save you.
Hereâs how to practice it the right way:
1. Cover your BPM with tape (seriously) or turn your screen away
2. Play your main track out loud
3. Cue your next track in your headphones
4. Listen to the kick drums â thatâs your anchor
5. Use the tempo fader to make the incoming track faster or slower
6. Donât rush it â just get the feel of the speed matching
7. Once it feels close, nudge the track to lock the beats in
8. Keep making tiny adjustments and listen for drift
The goal isnât perfection⊠itâs control.
Most beginners try to line up the beats first.
Thatâs why their mixes fall apart.
Match tempo first, then align.
Do this for 10â15 minutes a day and your ears will level up fast.
And the best part? Youâll be able to mix on anything, anywhere.
