We’ve been waiting a long time for this two-year checkup to see if she may be on the autism spectrum. I’ve always felt that if she is, it would be very mild—but the waiting for answers has still been hard. When she was around six months old, she began banging her head on the floor multiple times a day. As she’s grown, that’s changed. She no longer does it on the floor—now it happens mostly at bedtime in her bed. During the day, she rocks back and forth. Sometimes it’s rough, sometimes it’s just a gentle sway. Recently, she’s started saying words while she rocks, repeating the same word for several minutes at a time before stopping. Whether or not autism is part of her story doesn’t change who she is or how deeply she’s loved. 💕 This appointment is about understanding her better—and finally getting answers after such a long wait.
