Why is there a 67 bus on campus #ucberkeley #collegelife #dayinthelife #college
Location matters, and there's ways to get around–just take it from Adam and Helena 🚍️👀
Berkeley's Southside neighborhood is now home to 1.5 miles of safer, more vibrant connections for everyone traveling. Working closely with the @cityofberkeley, @ucberkeleyofficial, business owners, and local residents, our team led concept design, alternatives analysis, public engagement, and final PS&E to reshape three corridors into Complete Streets—all within the existing curb-to-curb width. The new infrastructure enhances safety and efficiency for all modes of travel. Key features include: ✅ 17 reconfigured intersections (10 signalized) ✅ Updated signal phasing, including new bike signals ✅ Bus-only lanes serving AC Transit and BART ✅ A two-way bikeway with a buffer ✅ Raised intersections with marked crosswalks ✅ Green infrastructure Learn more about this roadway design transformation at the link in our bio.
Accessing specialized transportation shouldn’t be a barrier. The CPUC’s TNC Access for All Program is helping expand wheelchair accessible rides across California, making everyday trips easier for people with disabilities. Click the link in our bio to read our latest story to learn how the program works and who it helps. #TNCAccessForAll #DisabilityAccess #MobilityForAll #California #InclusiveTransportation
Check out the interactive wayfinding kiosks located throughout Berkeley. The kiosks feature AC Transit service information, making trip planning simple and accessible. Installed by @ikesmartcity, the kiosks help residents and visitors navigate the area!
Just a quick grocery run before class 🚌🛒 Being able to hop on the Metro with my bus pass makes errands like this so much easier between classes. Instead of worrying about transportation, I can focus on school, saving money, and getting what I need for the week. Huge thank you to the Green Action Fund for supporting UCCS students by funding Metro bus passes. Programs like this make sustainable transportation accessible and help students get around campus and the city more easily. 🌱💚

👀 Check my feed for “Inaccessible College Tour Part 1”. It’s a doozy! 👩‍🏫 After an awful tour experience where a student who uses a wheelchair was made to feel like a problem, the student decided to speak up. ♿ We worked together on an email to the admissions department to inform them of what occurred and gave them resources to make their tour more accessible and educate their tour guides. To be clear, it’s not the students responsibility to do this nearly 36 years after the ADA was passed. ❓Interested in learning more about how to make college tours more accessible? I presented at last year’s National Association for College Admission Counseling (@nacacheadquarters) on this topic! Check out this conversation with my friend Elizabeth Ralston, MPH, and the resource: “Equal Access: Universal Design of Recruitment and Undergraduate Admissions” from @uofwa’s DO-IT Center: https://loom.ly/_lQHwzg #CollegeTour #CollegeAdmissions #Accessibility #Wheelchair #Students Equity
Accessibility benefits all of us. Systems that enable people to live, move and flourish must be principally concerned with our diversity of needs, and making sure that no one gets left behind. But accessibility isn’t just a technical concern, it’s a social one too. WeBike (@webikepdx) is a program designed to inspire women, trans, Two Spirit and gender non-conforming people to incorporate a bike into their lives. At their 10th Anniversary Party in Downtown Portland, I spoke to enthusiasts who were drawn to WeBike because bicycling is an activity best enjoyed together .. and the company really matters. Ginger (@gingersnapply), Board Secretary for the Community Cycling Center (@communitycyclingcenter) on NE Alberta, told us that getting on a bike had granted her more freedom to move around the city and connect with likeminded people. Unlocking this experience is a core objective of The Street Trust (@thestreettrust). The WeBike program is just one way in which they’re fighting for a complete, safe and multimodal transportation system. Human Centric Media concerns itself with accessibility because we know the power of a single heart-led story. Traditional communications often misses what makes people unique. Everyone shines in their own way. We’re proud to be partnering with The Street Trust to amplify these voices. Together, we’ll build a city that treats people better. Before you head inside, park your ride outside. 🛴🚲🛹 Scooters and bikes should always be parked and locked at designated racks. Keeping devices outside of buildings helps maintain safe and clear spaces for everyone on campus. #ridesaferidesmart #micromobilitysafety #ucrhws #ucriverside
I asked an LA Metro driver what actually happens with wheelchair spaces… and this is what you need to know 🚌👀 #DisabilityAwareness #AccessibilityMatters #AbilitiesExpo #AbilitiesExpoLA
At a sensory orientation in Oakland, BART staff demonstrated how blind and low-vision riders can use accessibility features on the transit system's platforms and in trains. Link in bio! #publictransit #accessibility #disability #bart #bayarea
