#underglazing

craft school aka summer camp for artists fixed everything that was wrong with me ! @snowfarmcraft def making the trip back next summer (with more bug spray) 🦟🪲 it was so lovely to explore @cel.fel ’s storytelling on clay class & break through my underglazing beef! 10/10 would recommend any of her workshops if you’re looking to learn illustrative techniques for clay~ ah, new england is calling me back… i must go~~ #snowfarmcraft #ceramics #newengland #summercamp

Some weekend underglazing! I’ve been playing around with applying the underglaze flowers and leaves at the bisque stage (after it’s been fired once), and I think I like this better because the piece is less fragile, but still porous enough to soak up the underglaze. Normally I do this before it’s fired, but it’s more likely to break while I’m handling it. These are some jars that I threw a couple weeks ago using 2 lbs of clay. Once this underglaze is dry, I’ll add clear glaze, and fire again. I think they’ll be cute! . . . . . #pottery #handmade #ceramics #smallbusiness #pottersofinstagram #clayart #clay #wheelthrown #home #flowers #leaves #underglaze #amacobrent #lagunaclay #ceramicjar

Underglazing these coral reef details is some of the most time consuming work I do on any of my pieces. Hours of fine detail work to bring them to life, but it's always worth it to see the final result ❤️ so many bright colors to bring life, energy, and cheer 😊 . . . . . . #velvetunderglazes #ceramicartist #animalpottery #clayartist #pottery #oceaninspired #oceanpottery #coralreef #animalpottery #oceanlovers

How I glaze my crackle textured cups ⬇️ Glazing these sodium silicate cups takes a little extra care. The crackled texture is the star of the show so I don’t want to bury it under a heavy glaze. I use painter’s tape to block off clean lines and preserve those raw, tactile surfaces. It keeps the form honest, lets the texture breathe. After firing, if any kiln wash ends up sticking to the foot I use a grinding bat with water to gently clean it off. These small steps help honor the details. The way a cup feels in your hand is just as important as how it looks. #sodiumsilicate #ceramictexture #potteryglazing #glazelines #tactileceramics #potteryprocess #ceramicart #wheelthrown #handmadewithfire #ceramictechnique #modernceramics #potteryeducation #formandfunction #potteryreels #claylife #pottersofinstagram #ceramicdesign #mudlife #kilnwash #potterycleanup #grindingbat #ceramiccups #glazetechnique #natewinterstudios #potteryinspo
