Grateful to have joined the USGBC-CA San Diego Winter Social earlier this year to present industry and regulatory updates and the state of the market alongside Ben Stapleton and fellow sustainability leaders. As a proud member of the USGBC-CA Regional Leadership Advisory Board, I’m honored to support advocacy efforts in our region and help shape a more sustainable built environment. San Diego Region Highlights: • 82 certified residential projects • 2,087 LEED certifications • 574 LEED-certified buildings in CA • 55 Net Zero certified buildings • 116 local members Huge thanks to the San Diego RLAB team for organizing this meaningful event. We gathered feedback from local members, shared priorities and challenges, and even created matchmaking boards to connect job seekers with employers. In this political climate, staying connected and supporting each other is essential to keep our movement strong. We have proudly achieved Gold certification in LEED for Cities & Communities and the newly completed Johnson County Courthouse is on track to achieve certification as well! Yesterday, we celebrated with the U.S. Green Building Council, staff, and elected officials! Johnson County is part of a growing group to be certified using the LEED for Cities rating system and is the 25th local government in the world to achieve this latest version of community certification. Our LEED certification demonstrates the county’s commitment to sustainability by benchmarking our water consumption, energy use, quality of life, waste, prosperity, transportation and other improvements, reinforcing Johnson County as a place people want to live.
