I hope my story inspires you. Donā€™t give up, donā€™t lose faith, as long as your heart beats thereā€™s hope. Whatever your battle may be fight the battle with all you have! Two years ago August 6th I came home from the hospital in a rough shape not able to move not able to walk with severe muscle dystrophy. My story, June 2,2021 I was hospitalized with Covid pneumonia and Valley Fever at the same time. It progressed to ARDS, kidney failure, Sepsis, and respiratory failure. I was intubated and was put into a medical induced coma. Facing a 10% chance of surviving I was airlifted from Palmdale Regional hospital to Santa Monica St. Johnā€™s Providence hospital, there I was put on a second form of life support called ECMO. I went through 3 hospitals before I came home. In a blink our world spiraled out of control. This has definitely been the hardest thing my family and I have ever dealt with. Before I was intubated while in the ICU, I had doubts and fears of not being able to see my family again, my conversations and prayers to God where many, but I can honestly tell you that once I surrendered it all to God I felt a weight taken off my shoulders I trusted in my Heavenly Father and trusted in his plan. Im blessed to be alive, I can testify with my life that miracles are real, yes recovery was challenging but I gave it my all and didnā€™t give up. Iā€™m still dealing with long haul covid symptoms my lungs are damaged so I deal with a lingering cough and other health issues but regardless Iā€™m thankful to be alive. As hard as it is to look back itā€™s important to share my testimony. All glory to God he didnā€™t grant this miracle to keep it to us. God is real, he hears our prayers and does not fail. Prayer works even if sometime the outcome is not what we want, surrender it all to him, lean into him he will carry you through. Valley Fever changed my life. I can no longer work the long hours of a veterinarian. I can no longer afford to take my health for granted. I have to give myself grace when Iā€™m tired. I have to be aware of situations that cause me stress because that weakens my immune system. I choose to eat organic food, take targeted vitamins, minerals, herbs and supplements. I get help from a homeopathic physician and because I am a trained herbalist, I can help myself. But I also have a registered human herbalist in my back pocket when I need help. In 2004, while I was still living in Texas, I traveled to California for a suspension performance. While out here, there had been huge wildfires near where I was staying during my visit, which released spores into the air that can cause valley fever, a mold induced sickness which can cause organ failure in people. A year and a half later, on October 26, 2005 (20 years ago today), I ended up in the hospital with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and double pneumonia. I was given a less than 50 percent chance of surviving more than a couple of months, but somehow, my heart, lungs, and kidneys managed to heal. Fortunately, I've been able to watch my son grow up (he was only 2 when I almost died) despite having a couple of major heart attacks since then. So much to the chagrin of several people who can't stand me, I'm still here and kicking, and I don't plan on leaving here anytime soon.
