⛴️🚗🧌☕️🐄 Here’s everything we did on our day trip from @visitseattle to @explorevashon and neighboring Maury Island! • Point Robinson Lighthouse • Oscar the Bird King Troll (our favorite of artist Thomas Dambo’s 5 trolls in the greater Seattle area) • Flora Hill Popsicle Stand (they have shrub sodas too!) • Coffee at @Burtoncoffeestand • Dockton Park and Forest • Pastries and coffee at the Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie @tvicr - they have a market and bookstore here too! • Vashon Center for the Arts • Mango Lassi at @venisonvalley Farm & Creamery • Rented e-bikes with @vashonadventures - a great way to get around the island! • Hiked Shinglemill Trail • Relaxed at Fern Cove • Picked up fruits at @countrystoreandfarm PRO TIPS FOR VISITING WHIDBEY VASHON ISLAND • We took the ferry from West Seattle (Fauntleroy). It leaves roughly every 30-50 minutes and takes roughly 20 minutes. • The ferry on summer weekends and holidays can have long waits. We went in early October and had no waits. • There are a bunch of farm stands along the road. Most are self-serve, and you can even Venmo for payment for anything you want. • Hours tend to be more limited on the islands so double-check before planning your day. • On the way back, the lineup for the ferry was just on the shoulder of the road. There were no signs, so Jacob hopped out to ensure we were in the correct line. We were! • Swing by Lincoln Park before or after you visit the island to see another Dambo Troll. A cozy island day trip 🌲🚢 just a 20 min ferry ride from Seattle, Vashon Island is definitely worth visiting! Vashon Island Day Trip!!! Details below👇- Be sure to save this one for a fun and easy day trip from Seattle! 1. ⛴️Take the 20 min ferry from Fauntleroy (West Seattle). Summer schedule is frequent, and we bought a ticket on the spot! We arrived 10 mins before departure. Enjoy views of Rainier and the sound! 🏔️ 2. 🍷@palousewinery is a 3 min drive from the ferry. Go enjoy the mountain views and gardens on the back patio. Snacks also available 🧀🥖Locally owned by George and Linda for over 20 years, and it turns out they are from our same hometown in California! 3. 🏞️Enjoy a 20 min forest drive south to Oscar the Bird King Troll at the Point Robinson Lighthouse park. Walk down to the water to see breathtaking views of Rainier. 4. 🥗🍖Drive over to @therubybrink restaurant downtown and enjoy their locally grown and sourced fare. The kimchi snap peas and braised beef bowl were divine. 5. 📚Walk around downtown, and catch the Vashon Bookstore and other local shops. to be fair our plans were laundry & a movie but you know what I mean!! our fav stops in vashon: @vashonbakingco - the baked goods looked amazing, Ken got a coffee @vashonrx - more like an anthropologie 🤭 @thestandardgoods - they have my fav @thingsbetween_ cardigan in so many colors! @dragonsheadcider - so good and make sure to grab a bite cause their food is fire @vashonbookshop1 - small selection but v charming @glassbottlecreamery - yum and v generous with their kid size scoop 🤭 @osolemiovashon - the crunchiest slice for thin crust lovers & you gotta drive out to see the troll and lighthouse!! that was our favorite part of the trip 🩵 note: we went midday saturday and a lot of things were closed 3-5pm so plan accordingly!!
