[turn the sound on] “It all happened so fast! Incredible!” If people hadn’t seen me draw live before, and they see my work, they would think it was a poster designed on a computer and printed afterwards. But live visual notes are exactly that… live. Made on the spot. They see a blank canvas first and they see it come to life in front of their eyes. They were there and saw it, and it’s still hard to believe. That’s to replicate with remote or online events. I’ve done those, and I’m not opposed to join more events remotely, but it’s hard to beat the impact created in person. People gasp and laugh with surprise when they see me, a human in the room, creating visual notes. Plus, they can approach me at the end to chat. Being able to talk with people face to face, answer their questions, and learn about their stories is where the biggest connection happen. Here’s to bringing awe and delight to more events this year 😎✌️ — In case you are new here, I’m Alejo [ah-leh-ho], and I partner with event planners to keep their audiences engaged using live visual notes and storytelling. Visual notes as of late
People think the magic of visual notes is in the drawing. It is not. The magic happens in the conversation. ✏️ When someone sees their idea sketched out, they don’t just nod along. They jump in. « Actually, it’s more like this… » « Wait, what if we add… » « No no, let me show you. » That back-and-forth? That’s where meaning gets negotiated. Where fuzzy ideas become shared understanding. The sketch is just the invitation. The real work happens in what we build together around it. When was the last time a simple doodle sparked a conversation that changed everything? 👇

Week 25 is about fun stationery doodles for visual notes. Stationery doodles for visual notes transform text-heavy information into vibrant and memorable visual notes. By pairing written concepts with simple drawings, you engage both left and right brain hemispheres and trigger the Dual Coding Theory, which boosts your retention by compared to standard note-taking. Oftentimes it’s easier to show than tell what visual notes are! It’s even in the name: visual 👀 This is what having a live visual notes-taker looks like at your next event ✍️ translating what is said on stage or in the room into a large visual board on the spot! . . . . . . . #visualnotes #sketchnotes #graphicrecording #liveart #conferencespace

Live Visual Notes aren’t for every event. Just the memorable ones. ⭐ You can absolutely run a conference without them. People will still listen, take a few photos, maybe write a couple of ideas down, and then forget most of it by next week. Visual notes give your audience something different: a live experience, a clear summary, and a visual memory they can actually take with them. Optional? Absolutely. Forgettable? Not if visual notes are in the room. #graphicrecording #visualnotes
