The last project of my six month earth building apprenticeship with @earthbuildingschool !!! It feels quite special that two years ago, when we finally first met in person, we were doing that lavender tadelakt shower in Waitati and now we finish this time with these yummy tadelakt walls! (Check my last post for pics of the finished walls!)
I'd say full circle but I know we'll be on more muddy projects in the future 🛖🤎
While I have had many mentors and teachers, Verena has definitely been one of the most significant and instrumental to my journey. From giving me a scholarship to her online Earth Building Academy while I continued to be a wandering earth builer around the country, to the first time we met in person at the tadelakt workshop in Waitati, gawking over the stones and earth on that unprecedented winter frost, to volunteering for the Nelson EBANZ conference that she organised and then this apprenticeship which has now come to an end!
Living with and being mentored by people with so much wisdom, passion and drive has been super inspiring to me and such an important part of my earth building journey. I'm SO grateful to have had bosses/mentors/ friends/ neighbourinos who I can cry, laugh, vent, dance, protest and heal with.

Bukan sombong, sok jaksel apalagi merasa “Lebih nyaman di bahasa Inggris”, tapi emang aku sesulit itu bercerita dalam bahasa Indonesia. Selama ini tiap ngomong ke orang2, pada bingung “hah apa sih, gak ada hubungannya” tapi ternyata setelah dicari bener ada hubungannya 😆

sesungguhnya dari papers yang kubaca, sebenernya pake L2 buat mengutarakan emosi ini TIDAK membantu regulasi emosi ya. Ini justru keeping a distance. Untuk regulasi emosi, ya emosinya harus dihadapi dan diproses dengan baik, makanya lebih efektif dengan bahasa Indonesia. Aku biasanya pake bahasa Inggris di situasi yang aku ngerasa gak perlu/gak bisa/gak tepat kalau aku sampai nangis. Tapi kalau memang lagi cerita, lagi menyelesaikan masalah eye to eye, ya tetep pake bahasa Indonesia.
I’m not suggesting that it’s better to talk in English, it’s just what I’ve been doing unconsciously dan sekarang baru sadar kenapa. Ada yang gitu juga gak sih?
