Ok so I’ve already started watchmaking school but i still have all my videos from apprenticing with dad yet to post. Crazy to think that only 2 months ago I handled my first couple of quartz movements and now I’m deep into watchmaking school in Switzerland. 🤯 #watchmaker #horology #watchmaking #watchesofinstagram #switzerland🇨🇭

Every once in a while, a piece comes across my desk that makes me stop and say, “Holy crap, what is that?” This is one of them... the Nord Zeitmaschine Freesdial. The creator, Daniel Nebel, wasn’t a traditional watchmaker. He was a Swiss machine engineer who taught himself horology and worked completely alone, producing around 30 watches a year. The engineering on this thing is insane. The minute hand extends, retracts, and shifts speed while traveling across moving U-shaped tracks. The minute display alone took 27 components and over 3,000 hours of development, all built around a reliable ETA 2824 base movement. Tragically, Nebel passed away in 2020 at just 49, and production ended with him. With only 97 pieces made per version, there will never be another like it. This is a true “if you know, you know” piece of independent watchmaking history. What do you think of this mechanism? Another watch that fell into the wrong hands. This @fpjourneofficial has scratches on the movement and a broken movement clamping screw. If you are seeking professional watchmaking services, simply ask the watchmaker(s)/business for their watchmaking school diploma and if they cannot provide one, then do not trust them with any watch. In this video, I reproduce the movement clamping screw and attempt to replicate the same high level of finish found on the original screw. The head must be black polished, the slot must be beveled and the overall dimensions must be identical.
