When I first started working here, I thought long hours = dedication. Now? I think differently. 1. 5pm actually means 5pm. People close their laptops and leave. No dramatic “still grinding” energy. No pretending to stay online. Work ends. Life begins. It’s very… clean. 2. When it’s work time, it’s work time. The office gets quiet. Meetings are direct. People don’t romanticise being busy, they just get things done. 3. Boundaries aren’t personal, they’re normal. If someone is on annual leave, they are gone. No “quick call?” No “just checking in.” Out of office actually means out of office. 4. Socials exist… but so does responsibility. Yes, there are team drinks. But somehow everyone still shows up sharp the next morning. Fun and discipline co-exist here. 5. You don’t need to over-explain taking leave. You book it. You go. You come back. No guilt attached. 6. Emails are polite but direct. “Hope you’re well”, and then straight to the point. No essays. No emotional paragraphs. 7. Meetings start on time. If it’s a 30-minute meeting, it’s actually 30 minutes. Not 47. 8. No one claps for burnout. Staying late every day isn’t impressive. It’s usually a sign something isn’t working. 9. Working here is less about looking busy and more about being effective. I still have my hustle mindset in me. But London definitely taught me that balance isn’t laziness. It’s structure. We need founders who understand the privilege of building. If you get the chance, approach it like it’s once in a lifetime.

Teacher Real Talk Edition 10 little things I do because I refuse to be a burnt out teacher: 1. I leave when my contract hours say I can leave. The work will still be there tomorrow. So will I. 2. I don’t check school email after a certain time. Nothing at 8:47pm is that urgent. 3. I keep “emergency sub plans” ready so I don’t panic if I need a day off. 4. I use my sick days. They’re part of my compensation package, not a trophy for perfect attendance. 5. I protect my lunch. I sit down. I eat. I don’t answer emails. 6. I don’t reinvent the wheel. If it exists on TPT and saves me two hours, add to cart. 7. I plan one thing each week that has nothing to do with teaching. 8. I remind myself: I’m a good teacher, even if every lesson isn’t Pinterest-worthy. 9. I don’t take student behavior personally. They’re children. I’m the adult. 10. I remember that teaching is my job, not my entire identity. Remember the expectation that teachers should sacrifice their health, time, and identity for this job is exactly why so many are burning out. You can be a great teacher and still have boundaries. DIY VENT EXTENDER ✨ Save for future DIY Projects Is it just me or are vents always in the way of where I want to place my furniture?!? When I was creating the design for our walk in closet, I really tried to work around the vent but I didn’t like how I would lose so much storage space keeping that corner empty…. I decided to create my own vent extender so that I could extend the Ikea Pax Closets all the way to the wall. This way, I was able to maximize storage space by adding another closet frame! I’m sure I’m not the only one with vents being in the way and I hope this DIY vent extender tutorial helps others to place their furniture exactly where you want it to go!
