👀 I spotted this at the weekend and HAD to tell you about it!
✋🏻 Now hang on a minute first…let me just be straight with you ok? I’m far from the first person to see this plant and I won’t be the last but it stopped me in my tracks at the garden centre this weekend and I had to get my phone out to film it!
👌🏻So, the benefits…and what is it??
💜 Autumn and Winter colour? ✅
🐦 Good for the birds? ✅
🍁 Gorgeous foliage too? ✅
❓Winner all round I’d say?❓
So this plant is a wonderful Callicarpa (Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii to be precise!) and this variety is the sublime ‘Profusion’ - and guess what… I absolutely LOVE it! Be careful not to eat the berries though! Although they don’t seem to be 100% poisonous, they aren’t advised for us to eat!

Yesterday I sat down to paint for the first time this year. I felt so rusty, and as though nothing particularly flowed! It made me realise that I’d like to put more hours into painting and learning this year. I’d like to push myself a little bit more, try more complex subjects and refine my skills further.
Because I have such limited time to sit down and paint for long periods of time, it’s hard for me to get invested in a larger piece. I’ve decided to try keeping a monthly study page - a space to illustrate things I find each month.
This fits so nicely with my morning walks - a time where I often feel the most inspired and creative ✨I can collect things that I’m drawn to and capture them on paper.

The window boxes at the cabin are always a favorite of mine! No matter what they’re filled with, they show up so good against the black exterior.
The winterberries are abundant here in Northern Michigan.. I always see them in all the ditches but a lot of times they’re too hard to get to or on private property. However…our our new lake property has loads of them😱..What a score!
