Last spring we packed up the car and road tripped through West Virginia @wvtourism with my dog, Sancho, and it’s easily one of my favorite close-to-home road trips. (A D) So many underrated hikes, peaceful @wvstateparks, and scenic views, all just a few hours from DC. You won’t want to miss this bucket list West Virginia winter adventure that’s fun for the whole family! ❄️ #AlmostHeaven 🛷Sled run at Blackwater Falls State Park 📍3 hrs from Pittsburgh 📍3 ½ hrs from Harrisburg The quarter mile sled run is the longest on the East Coast. 🗓️Open now through March 8, with sledding available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday ❄️Weather permitting 🎟️Tickets are $28 on weekdays and $33 on weekends and holidays ⏰ 2 hour session (arrive 20 minutes early) This is a popular attraction. I had the best time exploring the Morgantown, WV region. #WVTPartner #ad Morgantown, WV is only a short 1.5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, PA and makes a great winter weekend getaway. There is so much to see and do in this area. Check out my itinerary and 📌 save for your winter weekend in West Virginia. 😍 @wvtourism 1. Head to Coopers Rock State Forest for a sunrise hike at Raven Rock. ☀️ 2. Find the #AlmostHeaven swings. I visited 3️⃣ swings on my trip: Coopers Rock, Mason-Dixon Historical Park, and the Philippi Covered Bridge. 3. Check out some waterfalls on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail. I made 2️⃣ stops: Tucker Falls at Mason-Dixon Historical Park and Valley Falls State Park 4. Head to downtown Morgantown for First Friday for the Arts @mainstreetmorgantown 5. Take a hike on one of the many beautiful trails in the region: Coopers Rock State Forest, Cheat Lake Trail, Snake Hill Wildlife Management Area, Cathedral State Park, Audra State Park, Mason-Dixon Historical Park 6. Warm up at a local coffee shop: @almostheavendesserts @mountaineerroasting @anniescoffeeandcreamery 7. Visit covered bridges. I checked out the Philippi Covered Bridge, the oldest and longest in WV 8. Explore the magical @wvbotanicgarden 9. Eat local. I loved @tropicswv @ironhorsetvrn @murialesrestaurant 10.
