✨Let’s go back a couple of weeks, and for us, it was an honor to host the premiere of the Ukrainian film “Taste of Freedom” – a long-awaited debut with EBRD @ebrd_official 💛 Inspired by the life of Olha Franko, the film tells the story of a young girl aspiring to become a renowned chef whilst focusing on authentic Ukrainian cuisine. The evening continued with an inspiring panel discussion, featuring the film’s producer Olena Morentsova, British food writer Felicity Spector, Ukrainian barista Vadym Granovskiy, Dima’s vodka founder Dima Deinega and Mriya restaurant co-founder Olga Tsybytovska. They shared valuable insights on the importance of cultural diplomacy, including through national dishes and drinks. As the film’s heroine says: “Life is a feast – you be the chef!”💙 📹 Video by @antonkomyakhov by @talentedu_uk

Cate… @cateblanchett_fr #cateblanchett I absolutely adore this woman. She is a legend — and not only because of her extraordinary talent. Her humanity, and the way she uses her voice and influence to support others, move me just as deeply. What an incredible feeling of pride to see @marynaergorbach on stage at the BFI London Film Festival! Maryna is one of the first five filmmakers supported by the Displacement Film Fund, founded and led by Cate Blanchett. Seeing Ukrainian filmmakers on that stage means so much. I had the pleasure of including Rotation in the programme of films by women that I curated at this year’s Odense International Film Festival. I wholeheartedly recommend going to see the films supported by the Displacement Film Fund. And @hasan_kattan_92 … brother I was heartbroken. You are bloody talented @waadalkateab (great job👏🏻🖤🎥) The Displacement Film Fund @displacementfilmfund offers tangible support to filmmakers who have experienced displacement, and to those telling stories about it. It helps them keep making films, working and being heard. To me, this is about much more than supporting cinema. It is about supporting people, their dignity and their right to tell their own stories. I feel immense gratitude for what Cate is doing for the world. It was a great honour to organise a special screening of the Ukrainian feature film @on.drive.movie at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development @ebrd_official as part of Diversity Week. ⠀ What made this evening especially meaningful was the opportunity to use cinema as a starting point for a much wider conversation. ⠀ Together with producer @alona_tymoshenko , director @art_lytvynenko17 and lead actor @edpoliakovv , we spoke not only about the film itself, but about Kharkiv - about life in the city today, its young generation, resilience, identity and the extraordinary connection people have with their city. ⠀ We also spoke about the difficult choices facing young people in Kharkiv today - whether to stay and build a future in a city so close to the frontline, or to leave in search of safety and stability. In this reality, even an underground car park can become one of the safest places to gather, work or simply wait out an air raid. ⠀ These were important conversations to bring directly to EBRD - to an audience that might not otherwise have had the opportunity to discover this film and hear these stories. ⠀ And the discussion went further. We also began a conversation about what long-term support for Ukrainian culture can look like, including the budget for a second film next year and how institutions such as EBRD might help strengthen and sustain Ukrainian cinema. ⠀ This is exactly why Ukrainian films need to reach different international audiences. A feature film can be entertainment, but it can also open conversations about subjects much bigger than the story on screen. ⠀ It was inspiring to hear from Alona Tymoshenko and Artem Lytvynenko about creating cinema in Kharkiv and giving a voice to its people and younger generation. ⠀ And it was a pleasure to welcome Eduard Poliakov in person - one of the notable faces of the new generation of Ukrainian actors. He is currently working on a major international project, with further details still under NDA, so we look forward to seeing what comes next. ⠀ Thank you to EBRD for creating space for Ukrainian stories, Ukrainian cinema and meaningful conversations within Diversity Week. by @talentedu_uk
