Some images from “Anatomical landmarks_I most likely have a rare fetish and I feel ashamed“ made together with @talisacattini

The book brings together endoscopic images from a public medical archive and screenshots from pornographic videos depicting medical examinations and bodily exploration, questioning the boundary between scientific documentation and the representation of the human body.
Folded in on itself like an object meant to be hidden, the publication uses the fold and the manipulation and enlargement of the images as a visual device of concealment.
A text taken from the chapter “Porno” of Byung-Chul Han’s The Agony of Eros accompanies the reflection on body, desire, and exposure.

THE PERCEPTION OF THE OBJECT VARIES ACCORDING TO ITS POSITION IN SPACE

I photograph the object.
In each picture, I rotate it 20 degrees on the same axis. The resulting images seem to represent seven different bodies.
The work focuses on the relativity of form: what I see is influenced by the position it occupies in relation to me.
The transformative process is both fictional and real at the same time.

I am the body of the book

Reconstructing the broken object.
Relating differently to what has changed shape over time.
Identifying its new identity, creating a relationship with what I observe.

The original structure of the volume has disintegrated due to the deterioration of its materials.
This exercise restores a “body” to the pages, allowing them to find a new place to inhabit.
