WHAT.A.DAY! Sometimes luck really is on your side...Big congrats to my friend Vlad for becoming the new RI state record tog holder with this insane 23.94 pound donkey! If you had just let him eat one more bite it may have been 24! The day started very slow with an odd, 'mushy' type bite. No one on the boat was doing particularly well with a keeper coming here and there... except Vlad. Each time I looked at his corner he seemed to be tight. It was obvious it was going to be Vlad's day. Fast forward a few crabs later and I hear James mutter "looks like Vlad has a good one on cap". I stand by with the net and notice Vlad doing breath work like he's mid yoga class as he cautiously pumps the fish up. After one or 2 more runs the blob of white color appears under the boat. Once in the net and the battle over, I could really feel the shear size of the fish. Unofficial weight on board had it in the high 23's so I knew we had a real shot at the record. We dropped a few more crabs down before deciding to go in as a crew and get to the scale asap. The fish made its journey from the ocean to livewell to a half vat with 3 bubble boxes before showing any signs of distress. After getting the official weight @quakerlanebaitandtackle our top priority was getting back to the dock to watch this beast swim back off... Despite our best efforts, the fish didn't make the trip back alive to be released. Not how we wanted this story to end but still an incredible fish and an incredible day! Congrats Vlad! You deserve it!

You never know what you're gonna hook when tuna fishing. Got our unders on the jig in quick order then hooked a freight train giant that took us on a 2.6 mile ride and an hour long fight before breaking the main line and melting the 14k certate! Fun stuff!

Had another fun trip with the Taco marine crew. After messing around with some fish on top water that had commitment issues we made a move and dropped down the jigs. Once we found the money drifts it was game on! A nice mix of overs and unders! The @UVTfishing electric chicken 180 did the trick nicely.

The two best days of a boat owners life are the day they buy the boat and the day they sell it. It's both a happy and somber feeling watching the ole JC go. I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours working on her and hundreds and hundreds of hours fishing her. She's going to a good home in the cape to continue her legacy!
