Behind the clouds by @taraandrisart

MEMORIA features a pair of ethereal cloudscapes by Tara Andris, who has been perfecting the subject for decades. Both sublime and beautiful, these compositions highlight what is easily overlooked yet precious. Tara starts with a gold leaf ground before painting in oil, creating gilded negative space that reflects the setting in which it is placed.

Composed together, these works feature a continuous scene whether hung vertically (pictured) or horizontally.

Thanks @shopcastlegallery and @catherinedolaher for such a lovely show and opening weekend! Isn’t it wild how different they look in different lighting?? That evening gallery light really brought out their moody side 🙌🏻😂 Contact Catherine to bring home one of both of these beauties 🩷 by @taraandrisart

Coming soon to Castle! We are pleased to present MEMORIA, a group exhibition exploring representations of the land as a source of connection and memory. This exhibition will present the work of Christen Yates, Jennifer Esser, Kristin Endsley, Lindsey Luna Tucker, Megan Elizabeth, Sarah Bell Wilson, and Tara Andris.

Save the date for our public opening in Georgetown on October 16th. We are thrilled to bring this show first to DC, before it travels back to Middleburg through the duration of the exhibition.

Anyone else having chaotic mornings lately? What is it about getting socks and shoes on?! New cloud studies coming soon! 😘 by @taraandrisart

Is there anything better that fall in the Mid-Atlantic? This painting, "Scottish Highlands", captures all of the softness and majesty of our wide open spaces which feel so much like the vistas in the UK.

Mini Clouds are on the way! I've loved working on these silver and gold skies in the studio, and can't wait to bring them to you soon. 🌤️

Nothing beats the feeling of starting a fresh panel, when the reflective surface starts to become something new! This scene of a Virginian landscape was a special commission for a client and as much as I love how it looked finished, I love the process along the way just as much.

After a bug hit our house this summer and we collectively spent every minute on our living room couch, I decided that I was fed up with bad screensavers on our Frame TV.

I formatted four of my favorite artworks to fit the Frame and am sharing the wealth! They’re up on my website if you’re interested, and there’s even one for free if you join my email list 😘 by @taraandrisart

Just finished this painting and took it right outside to see the colors in their full vibrance. I think I might just be in love… by @taraandrisart

As I work on new panels of clouds, I'm reminded of some of my favorite clouds on paper. This duo of watercolors on paper use silver metallic lining to incorporate the silver linings I love so much. How great would these two be hung as a pair?
