DRILL DAY AT ITS FINEST!!!

Working on your form and mechanics is one of the most important aspects of running and the way that you drill will be the way that you run. They’re our starting point and necessary in our movement during competition. You’ll experience some fatigue as you go, but the focus is to channel your breathing and focus on your body control while also establishing a good rhythm in the way that you move. This will help you build up the endurance and strength in your muscles and allow you to hold form that much longer. It’s also equally important to control your mind and the way you think while you’re moving as you must be able to sync your brain and your body together. by @tayloredtotriumph

Enduring means accepting. Accepting things as they are and not as you would wish them to be, and then looking ahead, not behind. When you have a clear vision of your goal, it’s easier to take the first step toward it.

No hills? No problem! Add sleds to your plyo regiment to incorporate resistance for increased efficiency, power, coordination, ankle & ligament strengthening and explosion.

In the first part, we’re executing band knee drives with each leg to place an emphasis on dorsiflexion with the ankle while also maintaining a big knee drive as to simulate getting our knees up while sprinting. We’re keeping ourselves in a high plank position to simulate coming out of the blocks as well as activate our core and keep ourselves stable and under control.

Next, we move over to the plyo boxes where we want to tie the way we think to the way we move. The focus is to make sure our arms and legs are in sync with each other, keeping those elbows up as well as bringing those fingers to your forehead and being light on your feet. This allows up to still focus on our form while maintaining a comfortable and controlled movement.

Building speed is more than just going outside and running fast. Just like anything, you have to start off building a foundation and tie the way that you think to the way that you move. You can’t build a house from the top to the bottom only the bottom to the top. #summertrackcamp #tayloredtotriumph #tayloredtoyou #plyometricstraining #bonitatrackandfield by @tayloredtotriumph

@soliawaters26 runs a personal best time of 56.62 in the 400m Dash to qualify for CIF Masters! She had many ups and downs throughout the season, but her hard work, determination, drive to be better each and everyday, and her belief within herself helped her go out, leave it all on the track and move on to the next round! The job isn’t finished though and CIF Masters is next up! #bonitatrackandfield #tayloredtotriumph #trackandfieldlife #400mdash #believer by @tayloredtotriumph

Our Lady Bearcats put on a stunning performance yesterday completing all of their individual events at the San Gabriel Valley Championships in Covina to travel down to Mt. Sac Relays and place 1st🥇in their heat of the Rated Section as well as 7th overall with a time of 3:58.89! This is their second Sub 4-minute 4x400 Relay of the season and these ladies are not done yet looking to take this momentum into League Prelims/Finals & CIF! The race begins with Elizabeth Kisaka leading the Bearcats off with a 1:00 split followed up by @aubreyhaynes_33 at 2nd with a 1:01 split to keep us in third. @hollanddowdle takes the baton and runs a stellar 3rd leg 1:00 split before @soliawaters26 takes the baton and blazes to a personal best 55.91 split to give the Lady Bearcats the win!

These ladies have battled adversity all year long, but they have persevered through all of the pressure this season has thrown at them and have come out on top like the diamonds that they are!!! Fantastic job ladies and this will be one to remember! by @tayloredtotriumph

Wall knee drives are great for working low heel recovery, hip mobility and body control while also strengthening the muscles in your ankles/calves and help build that muscle memory when driving out of the blocks for your first few steps. A few things to take away here.

1. You want to keep your body at a 45 degree tilt simulating your body position when pushing out of the blocks.

2. Keep your toes dorsiflexed, bring your foot forward, keep heel away from glutes and focus on knee drive up to your chest.

3. Activate your core and find a rhythm of moving as well as consistency in your breathing (you may need to start of slower and gradually increase tempo once comfortable).

Add these to your workout regiments and watch the consistency of how your athletes move improve!

AND WE’RE BACK AT IT!!

Hurdle Mobility Training is pivotal as it increases hip mobility and flexibility in the hips and assists with better form, technique and your running mechanics, improves your balance and core strength, your hand/eye coordination, assists with building that explosiveness in your legs as well as build up the muscles in your ankles and calves, and also helps for injury prevention.

Start incorporating these into your workouts and you’ll start to see the increase in your range of motion, overall flexibility and you’ll feel the overall control of your body while running!
