For so long, I couldn’t bring myself to sing this song. It was my (step) dad’s funeral song, and every word carried a weight I wasn’t ready to face. Losing him has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. Grief isn’t something you simply get over—it changes you, and for a long time I struggled to accept that he was really gone. Singing this today wasn’t about having “moved on.” It was about finally finding a small moment of acceptance in the middle of all the pain. It was emotional, it was heartbreaking, and it was incredibly difficult, but it also felt like a step towards healing. Posting this is one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever done. I almost didn’t share it because it feels like I’m opening up a part of my heart that I’ve kept hidden. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that grief deserves to be acknowledged, not hidden. Dad, this one will always be for you. #griefandloss #griefisajourney #coversong #singing #sleepingatlast @sleepingatlast by @taylortilley97
