🌺 LA Student of the Month: @phawteemah 🌺

I began my journey with ‘Ori / Te Aho Nui in January of this year through Weekend Aito, a boot camp class. This class boosted my confidence in ‘Ori and inspired me to enroll full-time in March. Since then, I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. It’s my favorite way to work out and connect with my body. ‘Ori has helped me slow down and focus on the connection between my mind and body, while the beautiful culture behind it inspires me to represent it with care and respect. Every class makes me feel stronger and more comfortable, and the incredible community and dedicated teachers have been crucial in motivating me to keep progressing and improving. by @teahonui

🌺Online Student of the Month: @melody.sarmiento0208🌺

I joined Te Ahu Nui in July 2023. First time I started dancing tahitian was in 2018. I did not dance Tahitian wholeheartedly until I joined Te Aho Nui. That's when my amazing Tahitian journey began. Looking back 5 years from now I would have never imagined the incredible adventures and experiences I have had with my amazing beautiful teacher @dancewithleolani and Te Aho Nui family. Dancing Tahitian has challenged me in every way mentally, physically and emotionally. It helps me with strength and stamina. It gives me peace and joy. The feeling of being immersed in the music and in dance. Learning about amazing culture, the fenua and the mana. All of this I love. I'm truly grateful to be in this wonderful community. by @teahonui

A little recap from our performance at @melrosetradingpost! So proud of the work our girls have put in for the Summer Quarter. by @teahonui

Tonight I start dance again. And I am having FOMO since all the girls are deep in dance competitions right now. Throwback to my favorite picture taken by @giatrovela of me and @cadizzzer last year at Heiva San Diego. This is my favorite costume that I ever made. I got to make it with my mom @lolawilma1957 and it is so special to me to this day. There is a lot of deep meaning in every element since my dance was about the Lord. The lei I made was a representation of the fire of the Holy Spirit. And I had crown flowers in the back and in my hair that representing the Kingly authority of the Lord. And all of the ti leaf leis on my dress and in my hair were prayed over as I braided them. My friends @aliceissacproductions @curatedbykrista_ @_balancedandfree_ @peytontucker_ @j.j.michaels prayed over me for hours as I made it. And I am forever grateful they were part of the process. Excited to dance again tonight with @teahonui and @dancewithleolani who helped me with the choreography. Forever grateful for my dance family! by @teahonui

Grateful for our students who show up and show out! by @teahonui

Come dance with us! Our monthly Farereiraa Community Class is an all-level, drop in class is next Saturday, October 3 at 1-2:30pm in Mid City. Link in bio!

“Farereiraa” means “gathering” or “meeting” and we’ve named this class as such to have a chance for new and old students to gather and dance together. This is also a chance to introduce potential new students to our wonderful community of Tahitian dancers in LA. by @teahonui
