The album that made us all cry and feel understood.
Life is tough but there really are things worth staying for.

Community is a light to hold in the dark.

Next week I’m five months post-surgery.

It’s been a year-long journey filled with many miracles and hugs from wonderful people and breakdowns at physio. Losing my ability to run and workout was closely the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, I had to rebuild my entire world from the ground up, my coping mechanism and the things that brought me joy were gone; This has been a wild adventure, one of loss and finding myself again.

Unaussprechlich dankbar for our medical system and my dedicated care-team!

My therapist asked me if I could write a poem about hopelessness.

At first, I hesitated and pushed back; Why write a poem without hope? I spent so long doing just that, I want the rest of my life to be the opposite.

And yet, I sat down and wrote. I realized that most of my ‘hopelessness’ is tied up with grief. Grief for people I’ve lost, for trauma endured, for the milestones I never experienced.

Life is brilliant. And then terribly soul-shattering. Then there comes a new baby, or a rescued racoon called Pearl. We say goodbye to a loved one, experience forest adventures and connect with people we haven’t seen in a while. We become disappointed and sometimes bitter, we feel ourselves grand and proud of what we’ve done, and then altogether utterly disappointed the next. Life is a series of adventures, both dark and light.

To write about moments without hope is not to deny that hope exists, but to acknowledge that sometimes we just because we can’t feel it, doesn’t mean it’s not right there, hidden under our nose. 🫶

And you have to.
You have to make sure you surround yourself with people that remind you, you are someone worth celebrating ❤️

This month has been one for soul searching~questioning decisions, pondering my actions and words, sitting with the 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕 of them.

One way I do this is: (𝒕𝒐) 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆
When Megan and I come together to commiserate :) Aka a staunch necessity of life.

Another way is stopping in at my JJM people, writing a real sit-down letter to a friend, or having a birthday picnic that is lots of work, but boy did we have some deep belly-laughs and solid conversations.

All I know about this life: connection with your people is important, when things are hard they remind you: 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫. by @tearingdownexpectations

I wrote this in grade 9 (2021) for my To-Be-In-Earnest speech, we were supposed to choose a topic where our passion and commitment to said topic could be recognized and reflected upon.

It’s still as apt and pivotal. Thought I’d share.
Word legend for hutterite words is on the last page.

A really vulnerable, mish-mash video because life encompasses all feelings and emotions; And I feel things so very deeply.

This video represents my struggle with borderline personality disorder, which I haven’t really told anyone much about. Mostly because it scares me, mostly because the stigma around it is revolting. But I want to talk about it, and I want to help others see that it’s manageable and doesn’t take away one’s chance at a good, meaningful life.

This video is about navigating a meniscus tear and repair, working on my self talk, and it’s about finding peace in friendships and family.

You are not alone. You are worth the struggle. #mentalhealth #healing #mentalhealthawareness #bpdawareness #lifestyle by @tearingdownexpectations

Somehow the fig tree continues to produce fruit, even as the world shatters, even as hearts become unbearable, laden down by grief.

Let’s shed the weight of the world together. Know that you are not alone, feelings are universal and it’s ok to let others know just what you are feeling. It’s a sign of strength.

You deserve to take up space in this world.
