Experience and participate in the full spectrum of human expression, to the Glory of God. Don’t limit yourself to one form of artistry; attempt it all.

One of my favorite quotes is from St. John of Damascus:

“I do not worship matter, I worship the God of matter, who became matter for my sake and deigned to inhabit matter, who worked out my salvation through matter. I will not cease from honoring that matter which works for my salvation. I venerate it, though not as God.” by @tenth.watcher

The Importance Of Community (A Lesson I Was Reminded Of Today)

Rant:

Dude everyone knows how hard it is to leave the military. It’s not a secret, especially if you joined for the “martial” aspect of it. But you sometimes get lost in everyday life and forget that even years removed from separating (willingly or unwillingly) you still feel that loss in your gut.

(There may be a better word than “loss”, but that’s what I came up with.)

I’m a full time student rn. Which is obviously drastically different from being in. And today I was having kind of a tough morning, walking around with 18 and 19 years old flooding around me like the ocean around a rock. And I felt pretty lonely. I felt out of place and was really missing the Navy.

Until….

I was in the library and some random dude struck up a conversation with me. Turns out he’s a vet. Turns out he was a 75 guy, and we had a solid 30min conversation. Just BSing.

We talked about deployments, annoying decisions made by higher ups, future aspirations, why we left, and of course making fun of the kids we were surrounded by. What a breath of fresh air that dude was.

In a low moment some random dude from Regiment reminded me why having and maintaining our community is so important. Keeping it about our human experience and not fighting over whatever trash is being perpetuated in the community.

That doesn’t matter; we matter. All Glory To God☦️ for creating that dude and a big thank you to you bro. I really needed a coke & joke session.
