45 minutes to enjoy the park

Summer 2025
The shop was scary quiet, but our lives were full.
We welcomed our son, Tycho. Our last days as two became our first as a family of three (four with Hachiko).
In the heat of the summer I watched everything shift.
The shop, our city, our families. Even who I thought I was.
We lost a version of ourselves this summer, and became another.
Now a new chapter. One with a growing family, new hope, a new shop, and new work to chase.
The future feels increasingly uncertain, but full of meaning and life.
These are the seasons that shape us.
The moments where identity shifts and life asks you to begin again.
I write this as a record to remember what it felt like when everything was changing. by @terencebrasch

The past week had me thinking a lot about life and about connection.
Monday in Hood River, celebrating Mother’s Day. By the end of the week, friends and family had gathered to celebrate what’s coming next.

My dad and Uncle David sat swapping stories from decades of friendship. At night, my cousin and I talked quietly by a fire, exploring what it means to be sons. Watching him, I was reminded of myself at his age, how critical that moment is when you stop drifting and choose to stay, choose to build something real, something lasting.

You don’t always notice time as it moves forward. It slips by silently, until one day you look and see so clearly how everything (and everyone) has changed, especially yourself.
This week was more than a celebration. It was a gentle but clear reminder that we’re not just preparing for a child, we’re ready for the uncertainty.

A few glimpses from my walks and workdays. Cherry blossoms in full bloom, golden hour reflections, and sunny afternoons at the shop. There’s something deeply nostalgic about these images from the past few weeks. Maybe it’s the memories we’ve made, or just the fleeting beauty of spring.

Lately, I’ve been noticing how much our neighborhood is changing, not all at once, but through consistent care and presence. There’s a group of us down here building small shops, community gathering in the once vacant doorways, and slowly writing the next chapter.

Now we’re inviting the rest of Portland to see the beauty we see. by @terencebrasch

A short adventure on our day off plus free views of Japanese Gardens. by @terencebrasch

Three years ago, I returned to Portland with a head full of ideas about what it would mean to come back home. At the time, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Now, as I reflect on 2024, I realize how easy it is to take this city for granted and over look the magic of Portland.

I love to take walks downtown to clear my head and draw inspiration from the city. It doesn't matter much what time a year, but usually on days when the light is just right, and other times to grab lunch or coffee.

The waterfront area is nice, but there’s something magical about venturing just a few blocks further in, where you can find cool shops or hidden pockets of life tucked down random streets.

One of the places I walk by…..

It's a Dog Pawty!

Yesterday we celebrated Hachiko's Sweet Sixteen &
George's 7th Gotcha Day Anniversary with a pizza party at Goodies Snack Shop!

We may have had more fun than the dogs did...

They were VERY pawty pooped at the end!

Appreciate @bprior22 @maliprior and the kids for joining in on the fun & special thanks to @goodiessnackshop @yosoylovejoy & @terencebrasch for hosting us during opening hours!

2017, I was lost in transition, searching for meaning, for beauty, and a place to belong in life.

This image, from my first solo installation at @ash_mudra‘s Exhale event, was an early experiment with light, creating a new world with an empty, dark room.

I remember setting up a couple lights and a mirrored ball borrowed from my creative mentor, @lovejoy_paradise . Using borrowed materials from his apartment and coming up with my own interpretation of how to use them, I created something raw, simple, and yet deeply personal.

Standing in that space, watching fragments of light fill and move around the room, I felt like I was on the edge of something. Something new, vast, and unknown.

Sophie’s song, ‘Is It Cold in the Water?’, asks the same questions I asked myself then, Is it safe to dive deeper? Is it worth risking the unknown?

Each shimmer of light was a reminder of the beauty in taking that leap.

Looking back at this pivotal point in my life, I see fragments of myself, reflections of uncertainty, an endless search, and a hope that within these small moments, we might find our way. by @terencebrasch

Shots from the ‘Made in Old Town’ opening. A glimpse of what could become an innovation center right in the heart of Portland. They are envisioning a world class campus dedicated to the next generation of footwear and apparel.

It’s inspiring to say the least, but there is energy in this neighborhood right now, and to be here to experience it all is thrilling. So many great people working day and night to solve some of the biggest challenges our city faces. Our future.

NY 2018.

I arrived in NY, jet-lagged but full of excitement, not knowing the challenge that lay ahead. We took a raw space and transformed it into the Lost in Music pop-up — an immersive, interactive journey where guests could compose their own song.

This project pushed me in ways I never expected. Integrating tech into art, managing multiple teams, and working against the clock. It tested my skills and forced me to find new ways of leading. But what I loved most was watching it all come together, seeing how collaboration could turn an empty room into something magical.

Looking back, I’m reminded of the power of teamwork, discovery, and what happens when you embrace the unknown.

I’m grateful for the incredible people I worked with, and for the chance to be part of something that made people stop and listen. Since then anything has felt possible. by @terencebrasch

Portland’s Chinatown hides a beauty that I’ve witnessed up close for the last two years since opening Goodies. There’s something truly timeless about these streets, something my old Cybershot captured perfectly in these snaps.

While the neighborhood has endured its challenges, it’s also ripe with potential, growth, and a future for reimagining. The past blends into the present here. As seasons change, so does our neighborhood, and I’m grateful to be part of that transformation.

It’s more than just a place to do business, it’s a place of memories, connection, and roots for many.

Here’s to the beauty of Chinatown, its resilience, and the future we’re building together.

I am immersed while accessing memories. I remember building worlds with friends for hours. Surviving, exploring, learning against the mobs.
