Social dance with my friend, in my heels 👠👠#dancelife #wcs #socialdance by @terpsichoreanqueen

WCS Year 3, Month 3 (Choreolite with @terpsichoreanqueen, Portland, OR).
.
This mini routine is my first foray into choreography since starting West Coast Swing (a single salsa routine in 2010 being my only other experience) and I absolutely loved it.
.
The deeper I get into this dance, the more I appreciate its connection to music, its ability to translate a broad range of emotions through movements, and its power to make art with a partner.
.
I will definitely be doing choreo again in the future, thanks to @terpsichoreanqueen for such a clean run after only a couple of hours to learn this.

InMotion Black: Love Me Right - Samba

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to help coach this team and be with them at comp. It has been a huge learning opportunity, and equal parts stressful (mostly positively 🤣) and fun. Them taking home a medal was the cherry on top.

Shoutout to EVERYONE who brought their best to helping the vision come to life. Way to full send! by @terpsichoreanqueen

A shift in perspective:

This was the first piece we learned this weekend, and it was difficult not to criticize the messiness I saw when I watched the front perspective.

Then I saw it from the top and thought “wow…….we look stunning”. From the birds eye view, I could see us embody a flow of push and pull, in time with the music. The fumbles weren’t so obvious, and I could focus on how our bodies told the story.

All it took, was a shift in perspective
