Happy year lol

A special thank you to all of the people who make this semester and made the last two meaningful, and an even bigger thank you to the people whose relationships with me have been more like lessons I’m not interested in learning again.

Oh yeah btw I only redownload insta sporadically if you’ve ever wondered why I don’t really respond to messages on here by @thatcher.buck

Between my Dad's marriage, a clinical trial, a start-up, a conference, some protests, and countless new friends, my life changed a lot this year.

What a spring semester... I couldn't be more grateful for these people. I can't wait to see where life takes me next.

I am a little late for the end of semester post... ok, maybe a lot. It was a busy summer! by @thatcher.buck

Twas a wild ride growing out the hair.

Excited to see what comes next this year. Thank you everyone for the great memories by @thatcher.buck

Surprised I survived ochem, still figuring this long hair thing out, grateful for all the memories, shocked I can run

That's another one in the books! by @thatcher.buck

I think I made more memories than I could ever hope to store, but here's an attempt.

So thankful for all the people and places I saw this summer, here's to many more by @thatcher.buck

Stop to smell the roses

It's amazing how much happens in 4 weeks, let alone 52. The thing connecting all those moments is the time, the stillness, and the space between it all. Learning to cherish that peace.

Excited to see where we end in another 52 weeks.

So grateful for my people, my community, and my family. You inspire me to be a better man every day. by @thatcher.buck

It's been a minute...

This last year has been the most fulfilling, stressful, and chaotic year to date, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've built a rocket, been to 10 states, created student organizations, led volunteer and outreach events, presented at national conferences, studied the philosophical foundation of mathematics, researched and developed enzyme mimics, pulled one too many all-nighters, found love, lost love, made so many amazing friends, and seen so many amazing things. Thank you to everyone that has made this possible.

As we embark on a new chapter, here's to all the great things we have done, and all the great things we have yet to do. Let's make the most of it. We've only got one shot!

See you next year 🫶👋 by @thatcher.buck

With time comes reflection.

And, it is in the time since this long-overdue post should've been published that I've made a few key realizations:

1. No matter who you are, you've shaped me.

Whether you were the people doubting me or the people who helping build me back up - and everyone in between - you have shaped me. You've shaped me in so many innumerable ways, building me into the person I am today. Thank you for being a part of my story.

2. It isn't who you are, it's who you strive to be.

To all my friends, mentors, teachers, and loved ones: thank you. Through your everlasting persistence, you've shown me that who you are today matters far less than who you strive to become tomorrow. For, lessons shall be learnt, and it is not our first mistake that matters as much as our second. Further, it is the pursuit of excellence that matters far more. It is through the pursuit that we find our meaning/purpose, unlocking our latent potential along the way. I hope to carry this knowledge and mentality forward the rest of my days.

3. Live, laugh, and love every single thing you do, for the promise of tomorrow is empty.

Live without regrets. You may not wake up tomorrow. This may be the final time you see your loved-ones, your friends, your favorite movie, or your most beloved hobby. In realizing this, I've sought to live a life where, if I died tomorrow, I'd be able to say "I was on the right path," "I'm proud of all I did and - more importantly - who I've become." Thank you to all I've lost and all I've been able to cherish because of this mindset you helped instill.

Finally, I just want to say "it was a pleasure, Rosemount." There was no shortage of learning experiences, fun, and growth to be had. That's not to say my experience was perfect. It wasn't. I carry my own regrets, but I wouldn't be who I am today without the triumphs and tribulations that Rosemount brought me. Thank you to everyone who's helped me along this journey: school administration, teachers/staff, mentors, friends, students, peers, and family. You all have made everything I have done - and will do - possible.

I couldn't be more thankful.

Much love,
Thatch by @thatcher.buck
