I recently watched a video of a female activist calling out the ‘weak’ men that are failing to lead ‘the revolution’. But the truth is, the world is full of men who are struggling—men who are burnt out, emotionally exhausted, and holding onto trauma with no place to put it.

Let’s discuss how #Class and #race shape male mental health. e.g Black boys who get caught up in gang culture. Street violence can creates PTSD just like Veterans who come back from war. I don’t believe it’s always down to ‘bad choices’ as to why people turn to gangs. Yes people have agency but we need to discuss the #epigenetic (google this word) - generational and societal trauma in the black community, which is why there’s a growing movement of men turning to African #Indigenous spiritual healing to break this generational trauma and cycle.

🌱 Led by powerful figures like @queenafua who I learnt about during my Designing Possible Future Course by @theslowfactory @celinecelines, it highlights a truth that the book #HoodFeminism discusses: feminists SHOULD care about men especially black feminists. It also highlights an issue that mental and #spiritualhealing must be culturally rooted to be truly transformational. How is this reflected in healthcare systems ? How many black male psychologists are there ❓❓

Finally, we also need to talk about the way mental health is gendered. Women are stereotyped as “more emotional,” so conditions like depression or even psychosis are somehow more “acceptable” in them. But when men express emotional pain or worse, don’t, it’s often misread as aggression, apathy, or failure.

I’ll keep saying this again and again: when we heal individuals, we begin to heal the world and that’s why I wrote #1234OpenThiSDoor. #Wellness is an integral part of #decolonial and #socialjustice

Ps see you on Sunday by @the.decolonialangel

A month into being 34 and I’ve just been thinking about how I move, what I’m building, what actually matters to me now.

I feel like something has shifted. I’m not forcing things the same way. I’m a lot more intentional, and a lot more comfortable cutting off what doesn’t align with where I’m going.

And in that, things have been coming together in their own way. More opportunities, more conversations where I actually feel seen, more recognition…

I’m just taking it all in for what it is. Staying grateful, staying humble and staying prepared for even more 💛

I hope you are as well!

PS: my free masterclass is on the 26th April. I’d love to see you there — you never know what you might take from hearing something new. by @the.decolonialangel

1. Trust & belief
You never know who is watching. Keep posting regardless of low likes/ comments. Engagement metrics means nothing these days it’s all about visibility and the right eyes seeing you!
2. Train your mind
Don’t believe every negative thought —
fear, doubt, hesitation. Your amygdala (the part of your brain responsible for threats) is extremely active. Every new thing is perceived as a threat. Every bad memory is stored as having the potential to repeat and reappear which can cause paranoia and anxiety. Your future doesn’t need to look ANYTHING like your past!

3. Refuse to play small
Don’t shrink to make others comfortable. Imposter syndrome is something 99% of people deal with regularly - including me !
4. Curate your environment
Surround yourself with women who expand you and inspire you - even if thats starts from following people online,
until it becomes your real life. Remove people who project negativity on you and make you feel small!

5. Stand for something bigger than yourself. 🫶🏽 The desire to help others should be bigger than the desire to receive applause

6. DELAY IS NOT DENIAL! Whether that’s personal dreams or collective aspirations for our world! Every day brings new possibilities 💫
