A huge moment for Coach Ashley and for Welsh grappling. Earlier this year, with the amount of work involved in building and opening a brand new academy, Ashley didn’t think competing would be possible at all, let alone hitting major career goals alongside it. Fast forward a few months and Ashley has taken bronze at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships, becoming the first Welshman to medal at Worlds in the adult male division. In the last two months, alongside opening the academy in September and running free taster sessions to build something new, Ashley has: -Won IBJJF European No-Gi -Secured the Jecaris Invitational Lightweight title -Medalled at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships 2026 And the fact that he’s coaching right here in Llanelli makes this even more special. Truly world class jiu jitsu, in a small town in South Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We’re incredibly proud. —— Eiliad enfawr i’r Hyfforddwr Ashley ac i grapplo Cymreig. Yn gynharach eleni, gyda’r holl waith oedd ynghlwm wrth adeiladu ac agor academi newydd sbon, doedd Ashley ddim yn meddwl y byddai cystadlu’n bosibl o gwbl, heb sôn am gyrraedd cerrig milltir mawr yn ei yrfa ar yr un pryd. Ymlaen ychydig fisoedd, ac mae Ashley wedi ennill medal efydd ym Mhencampwriaethau’r Byd No-Gi IBJJF, gan ddod y Cymro cyntaf i ennill medal ym Mhencampwriaethau’r Byd yn y categori dynion oedolion. Yn ystod y ddau fis diwethaf, ochr yn ochr ag agor yr academi ym mis Medi a chynnal sesiynau blasu am ddim i adeiladu rhywbeth newydd, mae Ashley wedi: • Ennill IBJJF European No-Gi • Sicrhau teitl pwysau ysgafn Jecaris Invitational • Ennill medal ym Mhencampwriaethau’r Byd No-Gi IBJJF 2026 Ac mae’r ffaith ei fod yn hyfforddi yma yn Llanelli yn gwneud hyn hyd yn oed yn fwy arbennig. 🏆Coach Ashley Williams has just won his 3rd Black Belt European No Gi title! A huge achievement for our head coach, representing Team @__draig__ and adding another European title to an already incredible career. We’re proud to have one of Europe’s best leading our team here in Llanelli. #ibjjfeuronogi #ibjjf #champion #submissiongrappling #jiujitsu #ibjjfeuropeannogi2025 —— 🏆 Mae Coach Ashley Williams newydd ennill ei deitl Ewropeaidd Belt Du trydydd! Cyrhaeddiad anhygoel i’n prif hyfforddwr, yn cynrychioli Team Draig ac yn ennill teitl Ewropeaidd arall i’w yrfa eithriadol. Our first ever TGA Halloween celebration! 🎃 What a morning! Such a brilliant turnout for our parents and kids class, and a brilliant effort from everyone with their costumes. It was amazing to see so many parents getting involved and jumping on the mats with their kids. Some had never done Jiu Jitsu before, so seeing them give it a go and share that experience with their children was great to see 🙌 The TGA crew got involved too, going with a Mario Bros theme! 🍄 We’re really grateful to everyone who comes along, gets involved and helps make this community what it is. by @the.grappling.academy

Hygiene is a priority on and off the mats. 🤝 We’ve teamed up with @combat_sports_hygiene to support the best hygiene practices at The Grappling Academy, helping reduce the risk of skin infections in a close contact sport. Our students can use the product on exposed skin before and after training, and bottles are also available to purchase if you’d prefer to have your own. A simple addition to the routine, with hygiene always a priority. #TheGrapplingAcademy #Grappling #BJJ #Wales by @the.grappling.academy
