At 15 months old (to the day lol), our son affirmed that THIS would be the day he walked!! And we couldn’t be more proud 🥹 Our daughter was walking by 10 months and always received praise for how “advanced” she was. Of course it felt great to hear, what parent doesn’t want to hear praises of their own child? “Oh my goodness she is so advanced for her age!” “Look at that! Most babies don’t even start walking in the first year!” She was walking and eventually talking and exceeding all of her milestones. I was PROUD! Then something happened. We had a son 5 years later and as a parent it’s hard not to play that comparison game yourself. He was creeping up on 10 months and the thought of course crossed my mind. “Why isn’t he walking yet?” “This is when she started walking maybe if I work with him even more, I’m sure it’ll be no time”. And as if the thoughts I had to myself weren’t enough, along came comments from others like “he still isn’t walking yet?”. When he hit his First Birthday I seriously just had to sit down and remind myself that every baby is so different and when he is ready to walk, he will walk! And yesterday was the day he decided to take that step, literally! He took 4 okay!!!! 😂 I say all of this to remind moms and parents and especially future parents that milestones are not a “one size fits all”. Where some excel others may need a little more time and that’s more than okay! Because once they hit those milestones that’s it. If I sat and dwelled on the fact he wasn’t walking for the past 3 months I would’ve missed out on 3 months of him doing so many other amazing new things that make me so beyond proud to be his mommy 🤍🥹 #proudparent #firststeps #motherhood #toddler by @the.kaleb.oliver
