8 years without alcohol. 🙏🏼❤️🕺🥁 - #alcoholrecovery #believe #believeinyourself #staystrong #keepgoing #selfcare #thejjen by @the_jjen
Hey everyone! Back in 2019 I got together with some cool cats and made some pretty rad shit. Without any rehearsals. Basically we made a 5 song EP from a 6 day session with @ahren_lanfor at the engineering helm. The final mixing was done by @tad.doyle.music Mastering done by @obsessed.w.sound Thanks Blake! Great job mastering the EP! I don’t know if i Invited everyone I know to check out our music and Instagram page. The 5 song EP is available in the Apple music store, Bandcamp and all major streaming services. We’ll be seeing you soon! @the_jjen @jakehsnider @justin.tamminga @ericakredrums @nastyn8907 sorry, the video of Nathan on bass was cropped a little tight. Headless bass man! by @the_jjen
Today marks 7 years without alcohol. Best decision i’ve ever made. Recovery is real. This can be done. It was far from easy but it can be done. Believe in yourself. Believe me!!! You can do this. ❤️🙏🏼 my cup runs over with gratitude! - I met @jakehsnider when I was at my worst. He befriended me during the recording of the Voids record. He also generously invited me to play some percussion on a few songs. What about the Boat, is one of them. I thought it particularly seems to fit, sort of… But by no means is it about me… at least I don’t think so… - We both enjoyed many a hearty lunch with 6-8 pints of course. One thing we did talk about was how it felt to end a band. I have a whole bunch of experience with that, Jake does not. So I felt it my duty to counsel him about the things he may feel during this moment. And how he might feel differently a few years later. I encouraged him to not quit. Yet after 15+ years of being a band, I could totally understand, wanting and needing to make a change. I have been in those shoes before. *But I also know what it feels like when everything goes away. It’s really lonely when the music stops. I told him “ mark my words this is not the end of Minus The Bear just a bit of hibernation”. AND sure enough, it seems like he’s anxious to play music again with Minus The Bear. It’s just a matter of timing. At least that’s the impression I get. I could be wrong. (i don’t think so 🎶) I think the fans would embrace them if they decided to reform. Cheers to @minusthebear I really appreciate his friendship and meeting him during that time meant a lot to me. I was in a low state. But Jake was like my hype man!!! 🤘🏼He was a fan of a few of the bands I was in during the early 90s. Christ on a Crutch, Treepeople, built to spill, galleons lap… Thanks Jake! 🤘🏼👊🏼✌🏼❤️ - Thank you friends and family!!! Also my cat Lexi! I love you Lexi!!! 🐈❤️🙏🏼 - #believeinyourself #alcoholrecovery #gratitude #grateful #friends by @the_jjen

2018, Pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps. That’s what I did. One of my first goals was to start creating music again. The Jjen represents that in the first 2 years of my recovery from alcohol. Music heals the soul, creates positive energy and refills my enthusiasm for life. I’m not here to preach or tell anyone what to do. I don’t have any problem with anyone else’s drinking, only my own. I wanted to share this day of positivity with the fans of The Jjen, because this project for me has a deeper meaning. It has more substance that has yet to be revealed. I’m going to keep making music and keep contributing to the world around me. Thank you all for the opportunity to share this moment with you. Let us all stand in the lights, sounds and love. I appreciate @jakehsnider beyond any words I could express to you now. The man saves lives. You can hear it in the music! Thanks brother! Cheers to a beautiful future! Eric - 6 years without alcohol today. *Gratitude by Beastie Boys - Good times gone and you missed them - What’s gone wrong in your system? - Things they bounce like a Spalding(🏀) - What’d you think, did you missed your calling? - It’s so free, this kind of feeling - It’s like life is so appealing - When you’ve got so much to say - IT’S CALLED GRATITUDE! -AND THAT’S RIGHT! - #gratitude #noalcohol #6years #staypositive #keepgoing #nevergiveup by @the_jjen
Assertion!!! Check out Justin’s rad vocals! Assertion is writing some rad riffs!! I just really wanted to share. Will is rocking it hard of course! 🥁❤️ Great job guys! eric - After an extremely eclectic array of obstacles, @justin.tamminga - @chris_jordan_____ (who is also participating in this project) have also been on the road relatively frequently with @sunnydayrealestate - as well as life and all the tomfoolery, balderdash, hullabaloo and skylarking that comes with it - this cockamamie musical documentation of the human experience known as “Basking In The Gaslight” by @assertionband will finally be released to the public in 2024 - the release date will be disclosed quite soon. by @the_jjen
