We’re so thrilled to be releasing this. The 45’s will be available to purchase soon on bandcamp.

Big thanks to @ink_theman.mix for the time and effort put into this one. Also not to mention @palace_records_ for all the work behind the scenes and composing contributions.

Out in a couple of weeks. Here's the flip (Five Days) which slows things down a little - well at the beginning it does - and veers more towards the bands library influence.

35 copies left on Bandcamp but more available via @kudosrecords

🎷THIS SUNDAY 26 OCT 🎺

🎶 @the_kanpai_quartet
📍@cornercornercanadawater
⏰ 2pm-7pm

BMC Jazz Sundays presents....

The Kanpai Quartet brings together a forward-facing combination of classic library sounds and contemporary Jazz from the capital.

Their debut single (‘Rick James Dwells in the Abyss/Pearly Gates’) was a collaboration between the band and veteran drummer/producer of The Heliocentric’s Malcom Catto.

Following a sold out release show at Dalston’s Servant Jazz Quarters, physical copies of the release were distributed globally and sold out on Bandcamp within weeks. The tracks have subsequently been featured multiple times on Soweto Kinch’s ‘Round Midnight’ show on BBC Radio 3, and played by Flo Dill on the NTS Breakfast Show..

The Kanpai Quartet have more music in the works, this time featuring new compositions recorded at Angel Studios - part of the Abbey Road Group. The band are once again planning to release this single on Andrei Nikolsky’s library-focused Palace Records imprint.

DJ Support: Andrei Nikolsky (@palace_records_)
spinning Jazz, Funk, Soul, Latin and Library Sounds.

We’ve had an absolute blast playing our two shows in July. Big shout out to @palace_records_ for hosting such a fantastic event at @sjq_dalston which was perfection. The amount of talent that night was unbelievable. Also, @dizestablishment_ for having us at the wonderful @undrw10 with a whole host of amazing talents. Buzzing to get back out on the stage and also to release the new 45. Swipe right for a video symbolisation of our collective experience. Love TKQ. taken in London, United Kingdom by @palace_records_

Thank you again @sowetokinch for playing another track off the label on BBC Radio3, although a pedant line-stepper would say that it was never actually featured on the Dave Chappelle show... Not us, though. New TKQ 45 (hopefully) out soon.

A big thank you to everyone who came down @sjq_dalston last night for the Botchit & Scarper launch party. Few clips of the two live sets. First one was The Kanpai Quintet (for one night only) warm up one, featuring five musicians who had never played together before and managed to cobble together a set with zero practice. A huge thank you to the mighty Mike Bandoni aka @funkshone on drums, his mate Nino on keys, @mzerek_ on guitar and the lovely @c_searly on bass for all stepping in at the last minute. The Kanpai Quartet were firing on all four cylinders for the full 45 minutes and included a couple of soon to be released singles on Palace Records. Another big thank you to @alan_mckinnon and @thekarminskyexperience for playing some incredible records in between.
