DIAPHRAGM RE-POSITIONING‼️
•
•
•
If we are talking core muscles, the one at the top of this list has to be the diaphragm.
•
•
•
This amazing muscle creates pressure in your trunk that allows for ALL of your abdominal muscles to have a stable base to work from. However, with faulty postural alignment, the diaphragm can no longer create oppositional pressure to the pelvic floor and hence the canister which is your core CANNOT stabilize.
•
•
•
So we use a balloon to increase the intra-thoracic pressure, which allows the pelvis and ribcage to create a vertical stacking of each other. With the diaphragm vertically stacked over the pelvic floor, it can maximally engage and create optimal pressure for the surrounding core muscles to hold on to. This becomes an essential component for any type of “core strengthening” you wish to perform.

Let’s STOP with this national mindset that you are “broken” and cannot be fixed. Let’s STOP becoming OK with the pain we have and normalizing that pain is “just apart of life”. It’s not and it doesn’t have to be.

Don’t see things for what they are. See them for what they mean. A Right shoulder that is dropped, means a ribcage that is oriented towards a left rotation.

When it comes to rounded shoulders, everyone always goes after the pectoral muscles being the primary culprit. In actuality, the muscle is usually the primary muscle that is driving the rounded shoulder position. If you want to change your rounded shoulders, do you have to get really good at lengthening your lot muscle and learning how to contract the lats in a lengthened position.
•
•
•
Here is step 1️⃣: mobilization of the lat towards the lengthen position. We use a dowel here to create reciprocal pattern of the contralateral upper extremity. We can also use this Technique for facilitation at end range, resisting at the dowel with our hand pressure. by @the_manual_man

If you feel like you CONSTANTLY need to pull your shoulder blades together to feel any type of relief of your mid-back tension, but then STILLLL feel like it’s not doing what you want it to do…🙋🙋🏾‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️

If you have seen every different type of doctor/medical professional under the sun and STILLLL are in chronic pain, you are missing a HUGE component that will change the game for you…RESTORING YOUR POSTURAL ALIGNMENT.
•
•
•
Now when I say the words “postural alignment” I don’t mean it in the classic sense of the phrase like ‘chest up’ and back straight’. In fact, I mean basically the complete opposite of this. The way we see postural alignment is the stacking of your skeletal structures as they relate to each other, specifically while performing a functional task. Let’s say walking for example. With walking, if the alignment of your ribcage and pelvis are ‘off’ in any way, let’s say maybe your pelvis is laterally shifted to the right under your ribcage, this may cause your body to compensate in order to complete the task of walking in a straight line. It is those compensations that stack up and create compression points and tension areas, that no amount of stretching can change long-term.

Correcting Lateral Pelvic Tilt‼️
•
•
•
Here we talk about how a weight shift to one side causes the pelvis to rise on that side and the femur to shift inward.
•
•
•
We demonstrate a sequence to inhibit the right adductor, elongate the right pelvis using the left internal oblique, then progress to weight-bearing exercises with ankle weights and glute bands to promote right hip external rotation and proper pelvic alignment. #lowbackpain #hippain #kneepainrelief #posture #alignment by @the_manual_man

FORWARD HEAD POSTURE‼️
•
•
•
I’m tired of seeing providers trying to use chin tucks to fix a patient’s forward head posture. We have to think deeper…
•
•
•
Forward head posture is a result of your environment and your nervous system’s comfortability in that environment. We live on phones and laptops where placing our head in front of our ribcage (which is what FHP is) benefits us in these situations. But then we look up to quickly and strain our neck, or look over our shoulder and feel like we can’t breathe properly. These are all signs that our nervous system considers these positions as a THREAT and it reacts as such.
•
•
•
In order to change the head + neck postural alignment we have to:
1️⃣create awareness of the head moving BEHIND the ribcage
2️⃣create nervous system organization while in this position
3️⃣repeat consistently to maintain awareness and NS organization
•
•
•
Try this out; hold this position, looking up + over right and left shoulder. Then use eyes to track up, down, left and right while in this position to localize where your NS is disorganized (IE feeling dizzy, blurry vision, slight neck tension, difficulty breathing, uncontrollable shaking etc). Hold for up to 2 minutes and repeat THROUGHOUT THE DAY (I try to do this up to 10 times a day)

Shifting your left hip forward when you squat basically means your pelvis is rotating the right as it hits the 90 degree angle. To fix this, we have to re-orient the pelvis to a left rotation.
you need to create a direct reference for the left heel and use adduction and IR at the hip to reposition the pelvis towards a left rotation.
#hippain #squats #squatpain #hippainexercises #hippainrelief by @the_manual_man

Hip flexor pain occurs secondary to a pelvis that is stuck in a position of rotation, within the postural alignment. If the pelvis is rotated to the right, the person will most likely have left hip flexor pain. This is coming from the left inominate (uni-side of the pelvis) that is forward in space, as the right side is backwards in space. This causes the left front of the pelvis to literally press forward and compress the tendon of hip flexors and other anterior structures such as the inguinal ligament. we must first mobilize the soft tissue in the front of pelvis, to allow for freedom of the pelvis to move out of this rotation. Then we must perform a re-positioning drill to drive left pelvic rotation using left medial hamstrings, left hip IC adductors and a right hip flexor. by @the_manual_man
