PRICE ONLY ON REQUEST The earring in the picture is very much in the Ladakhi–Tibetan Himalayan tradition, where ear ornaments were historically worn by both men and women. In fact, among many Buddhist communities of Ladakh, a man wearing a single earring was a common and respected cultural practice rather than an exception. Men usually wore one earring, almost always in the left ear, while women wore earrings in both ears. These earrings were typically handcrafted in silver, sometimes decorated with turquoise, coral, or pearl-like wirework. Silver was considered both protective and auspicious. Large earrings were often too heavy for the earlobe alone, so a chain or cord was attached to the hair or upper ear to support the weight—the same feature visible in your image. Jewellery in Ladakh was more than decoration. It signified identity, prosperity, spiritual protection, and family heritage. Men also wore amulet boxes (ga'u), coral and turquoise bead necklaces, and silver rings. The designs reflect centuries of cultural exchange between Ladakh, Tibet, Central Asia, and Kashmir, resulting in distinctive wirework, granulation, and stone settings. The image beautifully represents an old Himalayan tradition where ornaments were not gendered. A silver earring on a man symbolized heritage, spirituality, and cultural identity & beauty. An Ode to Women-led Businesses 🤍 I’ve been blocked by women-led silver jewellery businesses in the past. And, honestly, it hurt—especially because I’ve always believed that women should support, uplift and make space for one another. But quietly, over the years, I’ve continued to build a little personal collection of jewellery from women-led businesses in the same niche as mine. Because this is something I truly believe in: Competition is at the base. At the top, we collaborate. There is room for all of us to create, grow, dream, and build something of our own. Supporting another woman’s work doesn’t diminish mine. If anything, it makes the ecosystem stronger. So here’s a little ode to the women whose work I’ve admired, collected and cherished along the way. ❤️ @potpourri_studio @mohabygeetanjali @amrapalijewels @xora.crafted @thejewelryprojectindia @maharanibaug @mayurijewels @the_sadgi @silvernstonesjaipur @saatrangi_silverstudio To women who make, women who build, women who collect, and women who cheer other women on — may there always be more than enough space for all of us. ✨ women-led businesses, women entrepreneurs, women supporting women, women in business, women-owned brands, women empowerment, women supporting women, silver jewellery, silver jewellery brands, Indian jewellery, Indian silver jewellery, artisanal jewellery, handcrafted jewellery, contemporary silver jewellery, traditional jewellery, jewellery collectors, slow fashion, conscious shopping, ethical fashion, small businesses, homegrown brands, Indian craftsmanship, jewellery community, creative entrepreneurship, collaboration over competition, sisterhood, women creators, supporting small businesses, women-led jewellery brands, independent jewellery designers, jewellery lovers, independent jewellery brands, artisanal jewellery, conscious shopping A restart to posting consistenly by @the_multipotentialitewoman
